IFF Nutrition and Biosciences has an exciting opportunity for an Area Operator Trainee in Rockland, ME. If you are a responsible and hard-working individual who is motivated to learn and grow in a role, then this is the position for you!

The Area Operator Trainee is accountable for all operational tasks associated with area of operation, including: startup and shutdowns, emergency response, troubleshooting, instrumentation, routine maintenance, process control and quality adjustments.



This position will be responsible for, but not limited to:

Safety Responsibilities

* Support deliberate improvement in Safety, Health, Environmental and Housekeeping Performance (6S)

* Ensure 100% compliance of assigned EHS requirements, safe completion of life critical activities, process safety, food safety and quality standards

Function Management

* Continually and deliberately identify and implement improvements in works systems, processes and personal development and as assigned in the achievement of department and/or shift KPI targets

* Ensure 100% individual training requirement s are met and train other personnel as required by Team Leader, Supervisor or Manager

* Ensure preventative, autonomous maintenance and equipment sanitation work practices are executed as required by department

* Develops, manages, and executes lock, tag, try procedures

* Responsible for safe completion of life critical activities in assigned production area

* Ensures safe and efficient operation of assigned production area

* Oversees performance of assigned process area - review records, logs, and reports - pursues resolution activities as-needed

* Utilizes process operation knowledge and problem-solving skills to meet or exceed process performance deliverables

* Supports Shift Team Leader in effectively executing production schedule

* Identifies problems proactively and communicates production issues to Shift Team Leader

* Provides shift reporting on all required metrics

* Initiates maintenance work requests and communicates maintenance work priorities

* Responsible for training other building operators

* Updates and follows standard operating procedures for respective area

* Monitors and ensures raw material and chemical inventories

Job Requirements

The following are required:

* High School Diploma/GED

* Basic math skills

* Basic computer skills

* Strong verbal and written communication skills

* Willing and able to stand and/or sit for extended periods

* Willing and able to lift up to 50 lbs

* Willing and able to complete work that involves repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting

* Willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating shift that includes nights, holidays, and weekends

The following are preferred:

* Courses taken in chemistry

* An Associate's Degree or higher in a science or technical related field

* Previous experience working in a manufacturing or chemical manufacturing environment

* Mechanical aptitude
