Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Planning Scheduling of daily maintenance work to meet short

term objectives with optimum efficiency


  • Coordinates with Production Manager to assess priorities and urgency of maintenance orders. Assist in the development of the daily/weekly maintenance schedules and procurement of necessary goods and services.

  • Establish processes for SAP including training of team members.

  • Ensure work is completed to the project standards and guidelines.

  • Follow spares management best practices.

  • Maintain department budget targets.

  • Responsible for daily meetings with production for planning and scheduling of maintenance opportunities.

  • Foster continuous improvement on equipment with maintenance team.

  • Develop and implement a define Preventative Maintenance program

  • Establish metrics to measure equipment uptime with the ability to provide sustainable solutions.

2) Leadership of maintenance hourly staff


  • Be a positive leader that encourages cross-functional communication.

  • Track Key Performance indicators to measure progress of goals.

  • Provide feedback to direct reports on daily projects.

  • Ensure proper motivation of employees through coaching, delegation, and follow up to suggestion and ideas.

3) Safety


  • Drive positive safety culture. Ensure compliance with safety, and environmental standards and procedures.

  • Demonstrate environmental and safety regulatory leadership.

  • Set and consistently achieve aggressive Continuous Improvement goals in "Key Process indicators (KPI's)

  • Promote safety and environmental awareness and compliance

  • Ensures that area safety and environmental inspections are completed, incidents are recorded in a timely matter, mandatory safety stand downs are being conducted, and visual present is be maintained at all times in assigned work area for purpose of discouraging poor safety practices.

  • Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Works continuously to improve in all areas.

  • Enforce all company, local, state, and federal safety policies and procedures.

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment

  • Promote safety among co-workers.

  • Participate in Behavior Based Safety program.

  • Understand and work within Safe Quality Food certification requirements

Employee Relations


  • Ensures effective employee / team relations. Provides employee coaching and development. Makes employment decisions, Resolves employee issues through problem resolution.

  • Communicates effectively, honestly and timely with team to ensure everyone has the information they need to perform at an optimal level

  • Enforces the Company's plant and safety rules and policies and issues fair and consistent discipline

Performance Measurement /Training


  • Provide structure, direction and feedback to maintenance hourly team

  • Readily share information and develop the maintenance team by delegating to their strengths

  • Set clear guidelines and expectations for the maintenance team

  • Establish and communicate clear roles and job performance expectations

  • Manage and report on all maintenance KPI's

  • Works with Continuous Improvement personnel to identify, document, communicate, and implement process improvements while improving area housekeeping requirements

  • Providing on-the-job training for Utility Maintenance.

6) Other

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ATTRIBUTES:


  • Good leader or supervisor experience is desired.

  • Must be capable of working any shift, on-call, overtime, or seven days a week, rotating shifts, if required.

  • Leadership: a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.

  • Must be able to improve working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, cost) and increase subordinates' skills and capabilities

  • Must be able to assist the production manager in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedure, safety, quality control, and performance management

  • Ability to plan and direct the work of hourly personnel and to train and develop an effective workforce and administrate corrective action is a plus

  • Good public speaking skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meeting all required deadlines.

  • Good understanding of environmental, safety and the desire to following all established procedures are required.

  • Strong knowledge of mobile equipment and diesel engine maintenance and repair

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be able to lead 5-Why activities.

  • Good understanding of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)

  • Strong sense of urgency in meeting customer needs.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve mobile equipment powertrain

  • Self starter with the ability to multi-task and meeting all required deadlines, with excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of budget process is strongly preferred.

  • Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Previous SAP knowledge is a plus.

Physical Demands include, but are not limited to:


  • Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.

  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.

  • Will be working in both an office environment and in a mining environment.

  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.

  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Required Experience:

The minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a maintenance supervisor role in a heavy fast paced manufacturing, construction, and/or mining/mineral processing environment is required.

Required Education:

High School Diploma or GED. AA or BS Technical degree in mechanical, electrical and/or related field is preferred with strong diesel engine, powertrain, electronics of heavy mobile equipment background and/or equivalent work experience in the field.
