The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of plant facilities and equipment. The Maintenance Manager manages the implementation of the plant's Maintenance Program and identifies those items which need improvement or additional work. The Maintenance Manager works with the plant operating staff to assure plant facilities and equipment are maintained in a safe and efficient operating condition at all times. Maintenance manager develops and manages all plant outages inclusive of parts, services, contractors, and schedule.

JOB DUTIES


  • Oversee the activities of maintenance personnel in performing maintenance and repair activities.

  • Implement the plant's preventive and predictive maintenance program, including equipment failure records, and provide trend information to the Plant Manager.

  • Provide task lists and schedules for plant and contractor personnel for normal operating periods, planned outage periods, and forced outage situations.  Develops and maintains both short (1 year) and long term (5 years) outage plans.

  • Maintain the plant's Maintenance Manual and assure that vendor maintenance and repair manuals are properly filed and kept up-to-date.

  • Oversee the Plant Safety Program and maintain the Safety Manual, and ensure it is up to date and in compliance with local, state and federal requirements.

  • The Maintenance Manager supervises System Technician responsible for the warehouse and inventory management as well as network administration. 

  • Sustain the morale and motivation of maintenance personnel and handle employee grievances as they arise.

  • Assist with the location, screening and hiring of maintenance personnel.

  • Complete other tasks as requested by the Plant Manager.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY


  • The Maintenance Manager operates from established and well-known procedures, performing duties independently with only general direction given.  Decisions are made within policy constraints.  The Maintenance Manager encounters new and varied work situations, involving a high degree of complexity.

  • The Maintenance Manager must ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner resulting in no accidents, in compliance with all environmental permits and NERC regulations at all times.  The Maintenance Manager must effectively communicate information to the Plant Manager, fellow managers, and subordinate plant personnel, relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance, and provide suggestions for plant improvement.  The Maintenance Manager must ensure duties are performed in such a way to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio.

  • All employees have the responsibility to both the customer and their co-workers to do the job right the first time and to ensure the customer's needs are being met.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The Maintenance Manager reports to the Plant Manager, and supervises subordinate maintenance personnel. The Maintenance Manager cooperates with the Plant Administrator and Operations Manager as needed in the daily operation of the plant.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical requirements include:  possibility of working on feet for extensive periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting 50 pounds.  Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.).  Work with hazardous materials may be required.

Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions.  "On call" status will periodically be required.

All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program.  This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post employment random drug screening.  There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in a field associated with the job's necessary skills/competencies and 7 years supervisory/management experience, or High School Diploma with at least 10 years related supervisory/management experience preferred
