The purpose of the Project Engineer's role is to perform engineering work in operations, productions, construction, or maintenance environments. The Engineer will be responsible for design and scale up of manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment, and tests manufactured products to maintain quality.
Your Day-to-Day:
Complete safety requirements as assigned
Support safety reviews of new equipment installations and changes to equipment
Plan, design and estimate time and cost, and oversee construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, systems and components
Analyze and develop solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures
Develop and apply engineering standards and procedures, and provide advice and/or solutions to issues
Coordinate maintenance and operation of production equipment such as mixing, crushing, heat transfer, distillation, oxidation, hydrogenation and polymerization
Develop and implement methods and procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection to ensure products are free from flaws and function as designed
Analyze reports and defective processes/products to determine trends and recommend corrective actions
Ensure compliance with established industry safety, environmental and design standards and guidelines
Resolve technical problems and recommend production improvements and improve reliability and up time
Determine root cause failure analysis and development of corrective action plans
Supervise and schedule plant mechanical trades in maintaining equipment and systems for maximum productivity levels that meet safety standards
Develop, lead, support and implement plant expense and capital improvement projects
Develop and track projects that will reduce plant cost related to variable spend
Work in combination with plant operations teams, JM Corporate Research and Development, and Division Engineering as required
Identify and share best practices within the division manufacturing facilities
Monitor activities of subcontracted technical services
Supervises/Leads individuals or a project team to achieve milestones and objectives by setting priorities and providing direction. May provide feedback for performance evaluations.
Appropriately administer and apply plant and corporate policies
What You Bring to the Team:
Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of 3 years of technical work experience in manufacturing
Experience in training and imparting technical process requirements/knowledge to employees
Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing experience a plus
Experience using CAD
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (Solid)
Knowledge of SAP systems (Basic/Solid)
Knowledge of statistical analysis software (Basic)
Solid interpersonal, verbal, written communication skills and presentation skills (Solid)
Strong project management skills (Solid/Expert)
Strong leadership skills (Solid/Expert)
Demonstrated analytical and quality improvement ability (Solid)
Demonstrated database decision making skills (Solid)

Moderate travel required (25%)
Work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility: May be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.
May be required to lift, carry, push or pull up to and including 50 pounds
