The Team:The Associate Manager Customer Data Management is part of the American Girl team located at Mattel's headquarters in El Segundo, CA.

We are searching for an Associate Manager Customer Data Management to manage the execution of direct marketing activities including vendor services for American Girl and other Mattel direct to consumer businesses. This individual will manage data quality of the marketing data warehouse, including data loads from external sources. They will partner with IT to deliver projects and processes designed to improve data quality and make new data available. In addition, will be responsible for creating ad hoc reports and creating ongoing reports using visualization software.Timely and high-quality work are of the utmost importance.

What Your Impact Will Be:

Data Steward

  • Proactive data quality reporting and monitoring, work with IT to resolve data quality issues.

  • Manage processes of brining external data into the Marketing Data Warehouse.

  • Collaborate with IT to manage database processes of house holding, address standardization, customer match.

  • Support database users through expert knowledge of SAS, SQL and the data stored within the Marketing Data Warehouse.

  • Identify data needs from business partners, collaborate with IT to develop and execute plans to make new data available.

  • Maintain the data dictionary that includes descriptions of tables and fields within the Marketing Data Warehouse.

  • Participate in and/or lead the data governance committee.

  • Manage the IT calendar to ensure data loads and system outages do not adversely impact the execution of direct marketing campaigns.

  • Liaison between Analytical Services team and IT house file.

Reporting and Data Visualization

  • Create ad hoc reports

  • Collaborate with Omni channel marketing team in creating ongoing reports using data visualization software

Execution of Direct Marketing Campaign

  • Field list requests from business partners and manage timelines

  • Collaborate with direct marketing team to design the execution plan for all mailing efforts

  • Ensure flawless execution of list selects and vendor data processing through extensive audits

Manage External Vendors

  • Execute RFI and RFPs for vendor selection

  • Manage contract negotiations

  • Manage ongoing vendor relationships to ensure work is complete, on time and on budget.

  • 3-5 years of experience in Data Analytics function in positions of progressive increasing responsibility and scope and demonstrated strong performance.

  • Experience in the direct marketing industry preferred.


  • Collaboration between internal and external partners while delivering results in a timely and high-quality manner.

  • Proactively monitoring and identifying data quality issues in a large database then collaborating with IT to get work prioritized and complete can be challenging.

  • Budgetary responsibilities, flawless execution of direct marketing campaigns.
