OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB:

This position is responsible to ensure that all items as received from suppliers are accurately processed within the Department and efficiently directed to the various departments responsible for continuing phases of production.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB: (other duties may be assigned)

1.Ensure the efficient unloading of common carriers.

KEY MEASURES:

*Prompt and courteous handling of commercial drivers. Shipments should be unloaded and related documents signed as efficiently as possible.

*Maintain or increase efficiency of unloading common carriers by selection of unloading site according to production site to be utilized or departmental backlog. Ensure dock space for other deliveries.

*Maintain accident free operations of forklifts and accident free work area.

*Verification of skid count, identification of parts and condition of pieces received prior to signing freight bills. All discrepancies and damages are to be noted on the freight bills and affected departments notified.

*Locate unloaded items in designated areas pending further receiving procedures.

2.Accurate and efficient completion of receiving procedures.

KEY MEASURES:

*Efficient processing of orders received from suppliers. Same day processing optimum with no delay greater than 24 hours.

*Examination of bill of lading and pack list to determine correct purchase order number. If undeterminable, reference to various in-house computerized documents may be required or contact appropriate office personnel.

*Notate quantity and date of receiving on packing slip as well as receiver's initials and other pertinent information related to delivering carrier.

*Locate freight in receiving aisles and gravity rack as required.

OTHER DUTIES OF THE JOB:

1.Perform other duties as assigned or required.

2.Perform general cleaning of work area.

SUPERVISION GIVEN TO THE FOLLOWING DEPARTMENTS:

This position typically does not require the supervision of staff.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED FROM:

Supervision is typically received from the Receiving Supervisor.

Provide close attention to detail, meet frequent deadlines, and work in a closely supervised environment.

Work with machinery with moving parts.

Work outside and inside, Work in heat between 90 - 100 degrees, Work in cold below 55 degrees, Work in excessive or frequent temperature changes, Work in wetness, Exposure to intermittent noise above 85DB, Exposure to vibration, Exposure to gases (propane), Exposure to grease/oils (preservatives/motor oil), Work with moving vehicles, Work weekly more than 40 hours (Avg: 46 hours).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.

Experience/Training

No experience/training.

Valid Drivers License
