Performs highly visible on-site and remote data manipulations and transfers involving all Varian Software products and third-party data sources, which includes analysis, troubleshooting and diagnosis as needed. Works with physical and virtual environments, operating systems, databases and other software and networking technologies. Reviews scope of work for assigned tasks to ensure all hardware and software components are available. Reviews customer IT infrastructure and project plans to ensure they meet documented requirements. Completes all necessary task documentation to meet Varian's Quality processes and procedures. Keeps current on Varian products and technologies through both internal and external training and certification. Creates and maintains an account with VCS (Vendor Credentialing System). Teams with project management, local service, clinical consulting and hardware/software installation teams to provide World Class Customer Service. Provides necessary evidence to customer through established and adhoc reports that data manipulations and transfers have been carried out as specified. Coordinates other subject matter experts required to assist in performing data manipulation and transfer activities. Requires minimum supervision.Uses pre-engineered tools and processes to perform highly visible, remote and onsite data manipulations and transfers for customers involving all Varian Software products and third-party data sources. As a member of a global team adjustments in working hours may be required to accommodate business hours of global customers and internal teams.
Applicable to the Oncology Systems business only: Position must have full access to VMS client sites to perform the essential functions of this position. Many VMS clients require VMS employees and representatives to meet certain "Vendor Credentialing" requirements before they will be allowed to have access to their sites. Unless prohibited by law, position must meet all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to have full client access and must continue to meet those requirements during the course of VMS employment in this position.
Recommend efficient product delivery timelines tailored to specific customer implementation goals and constraints.
Input detailed records of work performed into company information systems to ensure accurate updated customer configuration information is available to other VMS functions.
Maintain a high degree of professionalism and safety according to VMS guidelines and customer regulations in order to perform activities under the safest working conditions.
Report by means of FSR's, time sheets, expense reports, etc. regularly and in a timely fashion to ensure that accurate company statistical data on customer-oriented activities is available.
Complete all required installation documentation that pertains to the job being completed and update all requested and/or required data for tracking purposes as per the applicable Varian Quality processes and procedures.
Use prescribed problem-resolution escalation procedures and request technical assistance when necessary in a timely manner.
Provide feedback on products and documentation to improve processes Train, mentor, and advise new and less experienced Database Analysts in all aspects of the job. Provide feedback on performance of Database Analysts to incumbents and management.
Perform team leader duties as assigned on large scale projects.
Be fully available for the duration of projects (regular calls, go-live events). When absences are necessary, ensure role is filled by a fully informed colleague
Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge
Sound professional technical experience with system software and excellent debugging skills
Highly organized with detailed planning skills
Customer focused attitude with ability to motivate customers to complete tasks and provide feedback in a timely manner
Articulate and diplomatic in interpersonal communication
Fluency in the local language and in English, both written and spoken
Thorough understanding of relational database concepts
Ability to analyze, edit and create Structured Query Language (SQL) scripts (DDL and DML)
Knowledge of database administration tasks including: backups, maintenance and tuning
Capability to understand and troubleshoot healthcare specific data transfer mediums such as Dicom, FHIR and HL7
Familiar with data validation strategies
Understanding of the role of Varian oncology products in clinical workflow (e.g. registration, planning, treatment, follow-up)
Ability to communicate and demonstrate complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences in writing, over teleconference and in person
Knowledge of PHI handling regulations of all applicable jurisdictions around the globe
Understanding of Radiation Oncology patient safety practices
Other Desired Skills and Knowledge
Comprehensive knowledge of networking protocols and troubleshooting of networks
Ability to communicate new or modified technical processes to other team members
In depth knowledge of VM and Citrix environments
Required Certifications and Training
Completes Varian LMS training plan specific to assigned responsibility.

Meets all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to gain VMS client site access, unless prohibited by law. These requirements vary by client and may include, but are not limited to:
Proof of valid identification (photo, driver's license, SSN)
Criminal background checks
Drug screens
Immunizations (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Influenza, Tetanus)
Annual TB testing
Healthcare trainings
Experience Level with Business Tools
Proficient with business tools such as Email, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams, SharePoint and time reporting systems (e.g. ServiceMax in SalesForce environment).
