The individual selected for this position will be responsible for supporting OXY's Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) corporate report/dashboard creation and maintenance efforts. As part of this responsibility, the individual will gather and refine business requirements in functional areas such as safety, environmental, and HSE Risk Management to design, build and maintain reports and dashboards; extract and integrate information from various structure and unstructured data sources; maintain design and update report design specifications; interpret, develop, and modify source code including SQL and DAX. The individual will coordinate small work teams, collaborate with internal HSE and IT experts and consultants to translate user requirements into form designs, data workflows and reports, and develop and deliver user training, which will include the specific reporting tool of choice. An additional aspect of this role is translating data and narrative descriptions into compelling infographics for communication on Oxy's HSE websites.

This role requires a creative self-starter individual focused on delivering against schedule-driven goals using a collaborative approach, with excellent communication skills, and an aptitude for learning new technologies. Travelling might be needed on very specific circumstances.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications


  • Education - Bachelor's degree required in either: Business, Information Technology or a Health, Environmental or Safety discipline

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in performing business analysis and/or report build support

  • Prefer at least 2 years experience in the oil and gas sector

  • Business and IT technical acumen

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team

  • Effective time management and organizational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to read, write and speak in English

  • Able to work with minimal supervision

  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills

  • Strong database skills, including design, configuration and/or report development

  • Proficiency in SQL language

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint)

  • Proficiency in Power BI, SSRS and Spotfire or similar reporting tools.

  • Physical requirements: Walking, stair climbing, bending, stooping, able to wear personal protective equipment, able to respond to visual and audible alarms

  • Candidates must have a valid driver's license

Desired Qualification


  • Experience creating queries in SQL

  • Experience creating reports in Power BI, SSRs and/or Spotfire

  • Experience in a health, safety and environmental function in Oil & Gas industry
