The HR Generalist serves as part of the divisional HR team performing a wide variety of professional level human resources functions such as employee relations, compensation, benefits, talent management, training, workers' compensation, leave administration, and other HR areas maintaining compliance with employment laws and regulations, and recommending best practices to reduce legal risk. This position has no supervisory responsibilities but does frequently engage with management.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under minimal supervision, provides expertise, guidance, and coaching to managers on a variety of routine to complex employee disciplinary issues such as corrective actions, policy violations, and disputes and investigations
Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations
Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, andinvestigations
Conducts periodic meetings and consults with and supports line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate
Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation to maintain compliance
Responds to employee questions regarding company policies, procedures and work-related problems in a timely and professionalmanner
Processes employee status changes and compiles personnel statistics and reports in the HR database
Provides compensation support including salary planning, approval of salary actions, formulating and updating job descriptions; reviews pay, classification, and grade changes
Conducts new employee orientations and exit interviews
Recognizes potential employee relations issues in a proactive manner and either resolves the issue or escalates concerns appropriatley
Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation
Serves as the point of contact for employee leave of absence (ie. FMLA, Short-Term Disability, military) requests; providing direction and oversight on the leave of absence process and tracking leaves accordingly
Plans employee events such as employee recognition events as needed
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in human resources, talent management, and employment law
Exercises judgment in providing pertinent information and assistance to authorized company personnel; refers requests and issues to more senior Human Resources personnel as appropriate
Handles highly confidential and sensitive information in an appropriate manner
