About the Role:

Leverage clinical and scientific expertise to provide strategic guidance across the breadth of Medical Affairs (MA) functions in support of marketed products and development candidates. These functions include, but are not limited to: key opinion leader (KOL) identification and relationship development, scientific platform creation, publications, medical communications content, and data generation (Phase 3,3b/4 studies). The Medical Director (Psychiatry) will leverage clinical and scientific expertise to provide strategic guidance across the breadth of Medical Affairs (MA) functions in support of marketed products and development candidates. These functions include, but are not limited to: key opinion leader (KOL) identification and relationship development, scientific platform creation, publications, medical communications content, and data generation (Phase 3, 3b/4 studies).

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):


  • Collect and synthesize input from external stakeholders to understand the needs of patients and caregivers to inform the strategic planning of the MA department


  • Align cross-functionally on global medical affairs strategy and tactics, clinical development programs and brand team strategic planning


  • Design and lead trials including global clinical registrational programs


  • Gather the necessary clinical, scientific, and payer inputs to effectively inform the Strategic Medical Plan by leading Scientific and Payer Advisory Boards


  • Advance the science related to Company products and clinical development programs by growing relationships with KOLs and partnering with research organizations Develop robust training initiatives to ensure the highest level scientific technical acumen for all MA team members


  • Assist the Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) function in the creation and execution of Phase 3b/4 research protocols to optimize patient care


  • Assess protocol grant submissions to the Investigator-Initiated Trial (IIT) program


  • Assist the Medical Communications function create and implement the publications and data dissemination plans, and associated Medical Congress tactics


  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:


  • MD/DO and 8+ years of experience with a combination of clinical practice experience and Medical Affairs or related pharmaceutical consulting capacity.


  • Preferred experience: Clinical or Pharma Practice experience in Psychiatry


  • Highly effective communicator with good team collaboration skills. Passion for education and addressing unmet medical needs in Neurology and Psychiatry.


  • Ability and experience to lead large pivotal trials


  • Expert in one of the relevant specialty areas: Psychiatry or other CNS related field


  • Recognized as "guru" or external expert in a strategic job function


  • Requires broad and comprehensive expertise in leading-edge theories and techniques within a strategic job function


  • Applies ingenuity and creativity to problem analysis and resolution in complicated and/or novel situations


  • Influences internal/external business and/or industry issues that have an impact on Neurocrine


  • Excellent project leadership skills to mentor lower levels and/or leads indirect teams


  • Exceptional interpersonal, communications, problem solving, analytical thinking, influencing skills


  • Sets broader picture and longer-term vision for department or project


  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines across a variety of projects/programs, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency


  • Ability to apply advanced analytical thought and judgment


  • Proactive, innovative, with excellent problem-solving/decision making skills


  • Ability to work in a cross functional team and matrix environment
