The opportunity

Our Accounting team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business and we are expanding our presence in Houston, TX to support US Property Accounting.

TC Energy's U.S. Natural Gas Pipelines Property Accounting team collaborates to manage over $30 billion of fixed assets comprised of nearly two dozen interstate natural gas pipeline companies. This position reports to the Property Accounting Manager and works under the supervision of accounting specialists.

What you'll do

• Review and approve construction and retirement projects


• Leverage capitalization policies and accounting rules re. capital vs. expense


• Record and support journal entries


• Perform month-end close process, including account reconciliations


• Perform unitization of assets


• Review monthly depreciation expense for accuracy


• Prepare depreciation and AFUDC variance analysis


• Participate in periodic budget exercises associated with fixed assets


• Assist in drafting quarterly and annual regulatory Form 3Q and Form 2 pages


• Capital reimbursement billings


• Prepare and provide information for internal and external auditors


• Participate in FERC audits or rate cases, as needed


• Special projects, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting


• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience


• Intellectual curiosity and superior analytical and problem-solving skills


• Enjoys being on a team, working with and collaborating with others


• Proactively seeks and embraces feedback, with desire to grow in role


• Strict organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks effectively


• Ability to work independently and make decisions with limited guidance


• Excellent communicator, both verbal and written
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with or direct knowledge of SAP and PowerPlan


• Experience with FERC regulated accounting and SOX experience


• CPA or CPA eligible (e.g., 150 hours to sit for the CPA exam in Texas)


• Public accounting experience
