Mechanical / Civil Inspector at Arcadis U.S.Inc. in Long Island City, New York

Job Description:

Arcadis seeks a Mechanical / Civil Inspector to join the team in NY. Candidate must be familiar with MEP features of General Construction, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, force mains, subsurface structures, and support facilities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Will be responsible to prepare daily reports, enter Construction Management System and provide periodic status updates throughout the day.
• Perform technical work in the inspection of electrical installations, repairs, or alterations to ensure conformance to all local, state, and federal codes, & National Electrical Code (NEC) standards
• Shall be responsible to monitor contractor progress and confirm work is being performed in conformance with scope in a safe worker like manner.
• When work is not being done correctly must be comfortable informing contractor of exceptions and providing technical assistance to assure work is done in compliance with specifications and drawings
• Shall administer all H&S procedures as required by the owner and as detailed in the H&S manual
• Shall be responsible to hold and attend field meeting with both contractor and owner to discuss progress, schedule and work remaining.
• Shall prepare punch list of remaining work items.
• Shall be willing to work at a number of different sites throughout the NYC and have a reliable means of transport.

Skills and Abilities:

• Must have ability to work independently and possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Shall be proficient at reading and understanding design plans, specifications and shop drawing submittals including Mechanical, Plumbing, pumping systems, piping systems, HVAC, equipment startup, site/civil, structural, general building materials, and methods.
• Periodic overtime and off shift work may be necessary.
• Prior experience as a Construction Inspector.
• Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrated commitment to providing a safe and healthful workplace.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• 8 plus years' experience, preferably for State & Local Government Agencies such as: NYCDEP & NYCDDC
• BS in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent work experience.

• 10 years of Construction Inspection experience
