Your Role & Responsibilities


  • The main role of the Electrical/Electronics Test Technician position is to support the Amherst test laboratory equipment which measures the performance, validates the durability, and analyze the NVH characteristics of automotive refrigeration mechanical/electrical compressors. Additional responsibilities will include calibration of the test laboratory equipment, test facility electrical power circuit diagnosis and occasional global support of test equipment at MAHLE compressor manufacturing plants and technical centers.

  • Troubleshooting test bench equipment electrical issues from A/C and D/C circuits, measurement sensors (pressure/temperature/frequency/flow, etc.), mechanical/electrical control components, low/high voltage power supplies, electrical noise, ground faults and interface to the electrical compressor under test.

  • Repair/replacement of electrical components due to issues caused by electrical short, loss of performance over time (fuse), wear from repetitive usage (control relays), and/or over-current issues from electrical power surge.

  • Re-wiring of electrical circuits (A/C and D/C) of test bench equipment for modifications to achieve additional test capabilities required by new customer test specifications.

  • Establishing PID control algorithms for test bench mechanical/electrical components.

  • Programming and diagnostic troubleshooting of electrical motor VFDs.

  • Working with external electrical contractors on facility installation of electrical A/C power for test equipment as well as electrical wiring modifications to test equipment.

  • Interaction with test technicians providing direction for troubleshooting of electrical circuit operational difficulties with test equipment, meeting of test specifications and recognition of data quality issues if the event is the cause of a sensor(s) and/or measurement instrument(s) out of calibration specification.

  • Become knowledgeable in test bench operation (mechanical/electrical/control systems) to effectively diagnose test bench electrical issues.

  • Capable of utilizing calibration equipment standards for the calibration of test bench measurement sensors and measurement tools utilized in the test laboratory.

  • Diagnostic and repair of electrical equipment circuit boards such as replacement of resistors, capacitors, fuses, etc.

  • Strain gage application to compressor components.

  • Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams for A/C-D/C supply power, control circuits and PC based equipment.






Your Skills & Strengths


  • Minimum of an Associates Degree, Technical Degree, Certificate or Diploma is required

  • 5 or more years of experience with Test Bench and Test Equipment is required

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Good written and oral skills - ability to convey technical concepts

  • Ability to manage time and organize effectively with multiple projects

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Good results orientation and strong work ethic

  • Ability to work independently and to apply critical thinking techniques to solve problems

  • Ability to work in a hands-on, team environment
