Vehicle-to-cloud and vehicle-to-vehicle interaction is rapidly increasing with no end in sight. CNH Industrial is looking for expert support to reinforce the Vehicle Architecture and Networks team with attention to these important aspects. We are currently seeking an experienced Vehicle-to-Cloud Data Transfer Architect to join our team in Burr Ridge, IL.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop architectures (all layers) for V2X data communication with special attention to how the cloud interacts with the vehicle including, but not limited to:
Definition of a transparent policy for data packetization and transport between vehicle and final data consumer
Optimal file transfer protocol solution within bounds of current software architecture
Identification of roadmap to move from current solutions to improved long-term V2X protocols supporting next generation features and functionality
Identification of the most effective transmission protocol to send to lossy and non-lossy data with special attention to managing loss of connectivity (i.e. including local caching, delivery prioritization, data stacking, etc.)
Build Proof-of-Concept (PoC) for suggested solutions, including software development (or detailed monitoring software engineering activities) when needed to finalize the PoC
Support development of multi-year product roadmaps by providing technical vision and working with individual system architects to execute the vision
Provide technical leadership and mentoring of engineering teams, working closely with system architects, software engineers and business leaders
Influence and establish best-practices through solid design decisions, processes and tools with focus on data architecture.
The qualified candidate will have:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering
3+ years demonstratable experience defining machine-to-machine or machine-to-cloud connectivity solutions
3+ years experience architecting complex local data storage solutions (i.e. on-machine)
3+ years developing high quality embedded software using a structured system development life cycle
3+ years experience streaming data to/from a cloud IoT platform in connected mobile applications
3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in one or more of the following: Python, C++, C#, Java, Web interfaces, SQL and NoSQL databases, continuous integration/delivery
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize work and escalate issues appropriately
Effective communication and presentation skills to peers, stakeholders, and senior-level leadership
Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
The ideal candidate will have these preferred qualifications:
Advanced-level knowledge of 3 or more of the following technologies:
IoT SDKs/frameworks such as EdgeX Foundry
Hybrid cloud
Data security and privacy
Service Oriented Architecture
Event Stream Processing
AI/machine learning
Container technologies and orchestration (Docker, LXC)
RTOS, Ubuntu Core, or other IoT-based operating systems
Expert level knowledge of architectural principles and design patterns
Demonstrated success in creating system architectures with focus on software
Strong on device, and cloud data management experience in data models and SQL and NoSQL databases
Familiarity with application, server, and network security and compliance requirements
Experience with IoT/M2M communications in one or more of the following industries:
Precision agriculture
Home/building automation
Healthcare
Smart utilities
Aerospace/Defense
Experience with industrial IoT devices from bare metal to user-space software applications
Experience with cloud based IoT platforms-MS Azure IoT cloud services preferred
Experience with Geo-Temporal data sets, agriculture specific preferred
Experience providing technical leadership to drive architecture and best practices with a data driven approach (i.e. robust justification for technical trade-offs)
