OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MANAGER

Roswell, GA

SUMMARY OF POSITION:  

The North America Occupational Health Manager of responsibility will include providing technical guidance, oversight, and leadership for K-C Occupational Health Nurses (OHN) in the U.S. network in support of the Global Health Services Mission.  Technical knowledge should include both occupational health requirements (regulatory and legal compliance) and voluntary employee health and well-being strategies. This position directs and supports development, implementation and delivery of policies, programs and services that support all employee health programs.

This person will lead a team of 8 occupational health nurses in facilities across the Unites States.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Key customers include employees, nursing staff, mill/site management, Human Resources, Safety, and other functional and business leaders. External customers include various K-C medical benefit/disability vendors, community health care providers, and regulatory agencies.


  • In this leadership role the Occupational Health Team Leader will model professional behaviors, nursing excellence, integrity, organizational commitment, and strive to problem solve through innovation and creative solutions. The Occupational Health Team Leader will inspire team members to excel and support the development of new and emerging leaders.

  • Provide direct management to occupational health nurses in the assigned network including orientation, coaching and feedback, problem solving and objective guidance, clinical issues, performance reviews, calibration, salary handling, career development, and continuing education. Periodic travel may be required for onsite visits, auditing, educational sessions/presentations, or conferences.

  • Direct the development, implementation, delivery, and periodic review of appropriate policies, occupational health standards and procedures, employee health programs and strategies to ensure best in class performance, program effectiveness, standardization, quality assurance, and customer satisfaction.

  • Ensure the provision of periodic and regular audits and/or best practice reviews of all sites delivering occupational health services.  This requires regular communication with mill management teams to ensure alignment on occupational health requirements, risk assessments, priorities, gaps, and compliance issues.  Best practices in OH will require continuous improvement and benchmarking initiatives.

  • Support the development, implementation, periodic assessment and review of occupational health programs and supporting educational programs to meet applicable corporate, state, federal, and OSHA requirements. Programs include ergonomics, medical surveillance, medical clearance, health monitoring, pre-placement/post-offer evaluations, fitness for duty, return to work, ADA/FMLA, case management, and health related absence management.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Travel up to 25% of the work time. Travel may also include business travels via aircrafts and motor vehicles to various locations.

  • May include prolong periods of standing, along with occasional bending, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, climbing, twisting, stooping etc.

  • Work is completed in both office and manufacturing environments. When at Manufacturing sites, will be exposed to typical K-C Manufacturing environments ranging from dust, heat, noise, and moisture or clean room environments. Proper PPE must be worn at all times (may include safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, gowning, etc.).   

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field.

  • Legally licensed RN in State of Employment.

  • A minimum of three years Occupational Health experience.

  • A minimum of three years in a people leader role.

  • Basic Cardiac Life Certification.

  • All other required qualifications are listed here.

  • Experience working in a matrixed organization.

  • Ability to influence without authority, across business units.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Certification as an Occupational Health Nurse Specialist (COHN-S) and CCM.

  • Previous Spirometry and audiometry experience.

  • Demonstrated history of leadership within a Global, matrixed organization, preferably with a mix of manufacturing and staff locations.

  • Knowledge of EHS systems and practices.

  • Strong strategic and organizational skills with a history of leading a network of health professionals.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft products.

Note: Successful completion of audiometry (CAOHC approved), and a NIOSH approved Spirometry course is required prior to or within 6 months of hire date.
