Kforce's client in Short Hills, NJ is looking for a Junior Commodities Pricing Analyst to join their growing team for an exciting new project.
Responsibilities:
Member of cross-functional team of data scientists and engineers to design analytic solutions for the commodities market
Develop new products or datasets for oil/gas, minerals, rare earths, and freight
Create a portfolio of products that will identify arbitrage opportunities or mispricing in commodities markets using shipping data
Prioritize the portfolio of projects by working with stakeholders and through an understanding of the market
Identify specific commodity risks through the application (or identification) of exploratory, predictive, and root-cause analytics
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Engineering, Math/Statistics, Finance, Economics, or Business
3 + years of experience working in risk pricing, trading, analyst/research, quant/data scientist/engineer in commodities or futures markets
Strong analytical, statistical, and critical thinking skills with the ability to deliver in a self-directed environment and timely manner
Proven track record conceptualizing or developing analytic solutions for the commodities industry with knowledge of commodities databases
Familiarity or willingness to learn about commodities regulation and policy, both domestically in the U.S. and internationally
Strong understanding of commodity market concepts with the ability to communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences
Demonstrated ability to solve complex business problems and make decisions, sometimes with uncomplete data, in cross-functional environments
Strong communication, leadership, organization, project management, and change management skills
Ability to work within a team and across functions
Preferred Requirements:
Masters or graduate degree
A record of research or presenting at industry conferences
Hands on experience with data analysis and machine learning is a big plus, especially working knowledge of SQL and Python to explore and analyze transactional data
Strong customer focus and ability to translate customer needs to an analytic problem statement
Experience working with logistics, delivery, point-of-sale, and/or shipping data
