This position will be responsible for assisting G&W regions and railroads with the class and field training and mentoring of Engineering employees (Roadmasters, Foremen, Track Inspectors, New Hires) and managers. This position is also responsible for the professional creation, development and delivery of quality training material taught in field locations as well as classroom environments to participants.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assisting the regions and railroads with the class and field training and mentoring of Engineering personnel such as Roadmasters, Track Inspectors, Foremen, etc.
Manage the design, delivery and continuous improvement of Engineering training programs as well as ongoing learning opportunities across the organization, in support of the organization’s needs
Prepare the classroom to create a professional environment for all participants
Delivery of classroom training via oral and hands on demonstrations
Accurate record keeping of all FRA mandated classroom testing and scores.
Training of regional trainers
Audit of field training records
Support in the development, maintenance, and delivery of other specialized training
Preparation and submittal of training material, etc. as required under the FRA 243 training regulation
Assist in all other Engineering Department developments as needed
REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Must be willing to travel as needed (up to 90%)
Ability to work flexible schedule to accommodate field employee training as well as training classes

Deep knowledge and understanding on all FRA and G&W rules, polices and regulations, and updates and changes
In-depth knowledge and understanding of:
General Code of Operating Rules
FRA Part 213 Track Safety Standards
FRA Part 214 Railroad Workplace Safety
FRA Part 243 Training Qualification, and Oversight for Safety Related Railroad Employees
G&W CWR, RWP/RMM programs and Engineering Instructions documents
Genesee & Wyoming Engineering Safety Rules
Commercial Driver Regulations (CDL)
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
49 CFR 213 (Track Safety Standards) qualified
5-7 years railroad experience, including Track Inspector experience, a plus
2-4 years Engineering training experience a plus
