Summary of Position


The Senior Mechanical Engineer provides engineering support in order to maintaincontinuous plant operations and high efficiency. This position serves as a key technical resource insolving problems relating to stationary equipment, covering daily plant maintenance needs as well asmechanical integrity program and project responsibilities. The Senior Mechanical Engineer implements solutions to continuously improve plant reliability and reduce maintenance cost. Thisposition supports plant safety, reliability, and mechanical integrity through development of procedures,predictive/preventative maintenance strategies, and corrective action plans.

Schedule


  • Day Shift: M-F with weekend on-call rotation and off shift and weekend support

  • Ability to work off shift and weekends as needed to support shutdowns , equipment repairs andmaintenance.


Essential Functions



  • Demonstrates an ability to perform in a fast paced environment focused on critical utilities readiness at all times.

  • Ensure strict adherence to quality, safety, regulatory and written procedures in the maintenance of equipment in accordance with OSHA and CFR (cGMP) guidelines.

  • Focus efforts on ensuring critical utilities uptime to support production schedules to meet customer demands and reduce downtime.

  • Demonstrates a willingness to be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the department and business.

  • Takes ownership and is an active member with continuous improvement activities including: leading reliability team meetings, root cause analysis, and review of department SOP and

  • Preventive/Predictive Maintenance records, and FMEAs.

  • Perform Preventive Maintenance, Spare Part, and FMEA analysis and maintain all documentation according to SOPs and cGMP Guidelines. Review documentation, make corrections, and sign off as required by SOPs and cGMP Guidelines.

  • Monitor equipment reliability and various water system quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.

  • Reviews failure data and develops Top 10 Asset Mechanical Reliability lists and effectively communicates reliability issues and recommendations to management and other affected personnel though by establishing a Reliability team.

  • Conducts Root Cause Investigations of stationary equipment failures, conducts failure analysis, implements short and long term corrective actions, and reports on findings to prevent recurrence.

  • Designs and implements predictive and preventive maintenance strategies for critical equipment.

  • Provides recommendations for equipment condition monitoring, Preventive, and Predictive inspection techniques.

  • Works with site maintenance team, EHS, and contractors to ensure repairs are performed according to codes/specifications and properly documented.

  • Performs design or rerating calculations and technical evaluations as needed to ensure equipment is safe and reliable to operate.

  • Assists in the specification and review of new equipment prior to purchase and recommends proper inspection test plans and selection of spare parts lists.

  • Inspects, evaluates, and reviews newly installed equipment to assure proper installation and mechanical reliability.

  • Serves as a lead site technical resource for stationary equipment maintenance.

  • Leads efforts to ensure site mechanical integrity practices & documentation are compliant with codes and standards. Develops, reviews, & updates site maintenance and mechanical integrity procedures.

  • Leads troubleshooting efforts related to equipment issues onsite and documents findings.

  • Provides technical support for emergency maintenance work off-hours as needed.

  • Implements and manages projects for upgrade or replacement of site mechanical equipment.

  • Assists the maintenance department with planning of site turnarounds, shutdowns, and special projects. Provides technical input with regards to development of job scopes and ordering of appropriate parts and materials.

  • Performs reviews of inventory critical spare parts and submits recommendations for inventory adjustments.

  • Participate and perform effectively in a team environment and interact with multiple departments to ensure the operational success of the team.

  • Follow all written procedures and verbal instructions and communicate effectively, both written and verbally.

  • Use logical methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions and is able to makes sound decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure; able to make a quick quality decision.


Requirements



  • Bachelor Degree degree preferred with five years of proven work experience in a regulated manufacturing environment. Additional years of applicable experience with a lesser degree will be considered.

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices c(GMP)'s and applicable Quality System Standards.

  • Proven high performer capable of meeting or exceeding goals on time as well as meeting objectives of the team.

  • Exemplary team building behavior and a proven collaborative attitude.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with willingness to train and share knowledge with others.

  • Able to provide front line troubleshooting of equipment/process issues.

  • Thorough understanding of the needs of internal/external customers and ensuring critical utilities readiness is a top priority.

  • Capable of adjusting to changes and dealing effectively with uncertainties in the workplace.

  • Experience generating new and valuable ideas and effective solutions to difficult problems; connecting previously unrelated notions.

  • Strong motivation and ability to achieve work goals and quantifiable business results.

  • Willingness to help outside your department and within your department outside your normal or assigned responsibilities.

  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the department and business.

  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime, as necessary.

Working Conditions


  • Willingness to work in plant producing radioactive materials and requiring all employees to participate in safety programs designed to minimize potential and/or actual exposure levels.

  • Responsibilities also include the ability to lift up to 70 pounds, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, and climb stairs without accommodation.

  • Must be willing to wear a variety of personal protective equipment.

  • Willingness to work in a team based environment.

  • Close attention to detail required.

  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time while performing duties.

  • Must be able to work outside of regular work hours.

  • Must possess good hand-eye coordination.
