Contract Manager

What do our Contract Managers do?

A contract manager manages all aspects of an integrated mosquito management program.

Functions include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Manage all mosquito surveillance and control activities in a safe and organized manner, following all applicable laws, regulations, and VDCI policies

  • Hire and train all seasonal employees in accordance with all laws and VDCI policies

  • Manage all employees consistently and efficiently, following all VDCI policies and procedures, and ensuring that all activities are performed safely and in compliance with all laws and regulations

  • Communicate openly, honestly, and knowledgeably with all governing bodies, regulatory agencies, and the general public at all times

  • Obtain all licenses, certifications, etc. required to perform any mosquito control activities

  • Be able to safely and correctly perform ALL job duties of the positions being supervised: Mosquito Control Technician, Spray Truck Driver, Mosquito Biologist, Maintenance Technician and Administrative Assistant

  • Enter all program data into VDCI's database completely and accurately on a daily basis

  • Download all GPS units and truck monitor data to the computer correctly on a daily basis

  • Calibrate all application equipment accurately and routinely, and record activities properly

  • Report all incidents or accidents to the Regional Director immediately

  • Obey all traffic laws

  • Perform all required duties as the safety officer for the contract as instructed by the Safety Director and/or Regional Director

  • Work with the Regional Director to develop and implement the most effective mosquito control program possible, including personnel requirements, control activities, budget management, safety considerations etc. while maintaining open communication at all times

  • Use VDCI's database to generate complete and accurate reports and submit or present them to the contracts' governing bodies, in a timely manner, as required

  • Acquire and maintain all required licenses, certifications, etc., as required by the law and VDCI

  • Never allow a passenger, other than another VDCI employee, to ride in a VDCI truck at any time

  • Fully support, enforce, promote and implement the company's safety policies and programs

  • React to change promptly and effectively, and handle other essential tasks as assigned

  • Seek out and promote the acquisition of additional mosquito abatement contracts

What do you need?


  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology, Entomology or related field OR a minimum of 3 years of experience managing a mosquito management program of similar scope

  • Proficiency in the use of computers and office equipment

  • The work requires strenuous physical exertion and the employee may be required to drive, stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel and crouch for extended periods of time, as well as see, talk, hear and use hands and arms tograsp, handle, reach and feel.

  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

  • Have proficient writing and verbal skills

  • Available to work Monday-Friday and Saturdays as needed

  • Ability to obtainstate pesticide applicator licensing (training provided)and maintain licenses/certificates as required by federal, state and local regulations

  • Must pass pre-employment background screen and drug test

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and pass motor vehicle record search
