We're looking to hire an Senior Application Operations Engineer to join our team in beautiful, sunny Scottsdale, Arizona! This position will help us meet business challenges including scalability, agility, proactivity, accountability, faster resolution to incidents/problems, cost control and standardization. The Senior Applications Operations Engineer will help to provide a bridge between our application and infrastructure teams to provide an end-to-end integrated, agile and proactive view through models, implementation methodology and processes to address various IT and business challenges.

Our team in Scottsdale provides cloud-based infrastructure and services that enable high performance computing, big data processing, machine learning, and other AI applications in the cloud. This is an exciting opportunity to lay the foundations for the infrastructure, tools, and services powering our next generation of cloud compute. The team works on fresh, dynamic challenges every day and prides itself on delivering robust, well engineered solutions that tackle these challenges. You will need to be a self-starter, ready to dig in and own projects, collaborate cross-functionally, and deliver quality results. The work is challenging, but you can count on a deep level of support from your team. In this role, you will: 


  • Lead and architect compute infrastructure to enable high performance compute and AI applications in the cloud

  • Lead and architect our growing AWS footprint

  • Build solutions that allow our R&D teams, engineers, and data scientists to work at scale without fighting the infrastructure

  • Provide guidance and leadership on our use of internal and external cloud infrastructure

The ideal candidate will be or possess:


  • Build systems where observability is a first class concern using protocols and tools that cover the space of log aggregation, analytics, monitoring, distributed systems tracing and alerting

  • Provide security and network support for physical networking and firewall services.

  • Ensure network reliability and availability through well-planned and implemented solutions

  • Develop, maintain, and support networks in NSX/NSX-T

  • Monitor the automation of network deployment and configuration, along with the integration of infrastructure (computer/storage) automation

  • Configure and monitor network security layers

  • Back-up, duplicate, and support virtual machines and server appliances.

Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering  AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience performing a substantially similar Applications Engineering role OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Other required skill include:  


  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule

  • Proficient with containerization and cluster management technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, or Tanzu

  • In-depth knowledge of build/release systems, CI/CD systems, Jenkins, Azure DevOps

  • Good fundamentals on Release Management & Continuous Integration, Load balancers, VIP configuration, BGP, Linux, and Storage

  • Strong Experience in configuration, tuning, deployment of Application / Web servers such as IIS, Kestrel, Apache

  • Excellent PowerShell, bash, and scripting fundamentals

  • Expertise with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Chef, Terraform, or CloudFormation

  • Deep understanding of database concepts, T-SQL, and NoSql technologies.

  • Expertise with cloud platforms such as VMWare Tanzu, AWS, GCE, Azure, or similar.

  • Demonstrates advanced proficiency in supporting Linux and/or Windows based server installations based on environment

  • Previous work experience using version control system such as GIT / Subversion.

  • Demonstrates proficient advanced knowledge of analysis, design and configuration of complex multi-tiered server applications
