We are looking for an exceptional Structural Designer to join our thriving Water Business Unit. Position will be located in any of the following locations: Pasadena, CA; Walnut Creek, CA; San Francisco, CA; Portland or Eugene, OR; Denver CO; or Federal Way, WA.
What you'll do: As part of our team, you will use your structural modeling experience of facilities relating to water, wastewater, recycled water, utility infrastructure, conveyance and process modifications to provide multi-discipline engineering and environmental solutions to the firm's municipal and industrial sector clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Create 3D designs and construction documents from design concepts using advanced BIM applications like Revit and OpenPlant.
- Under general direction, perform advanced drafting and design tasks in accordance with company, client and industry standards.
- Coordinate mid to large, multiple and/or complex projects with other engineering disciplines to assist in the delivery of construction documents meeting scope, schedule and budget.
- Communicate with supervisor, senior designers and engineers regarding task execution.
- Perform engineering calculations, research vendor data, check for code compliance.
- Apply company software and IT tools in a consistent and coordinated manner with other project team members.
- Identify conflicts in design and communicate solutions with PMs.
- Assist and coach Senior Technicians and CAD Technicians where appropriate.
- Provide input on budget expectations for task assignments; track and manage budgets for multiple staff on mid to large-sized projects.
- Serve as CAD Lead on mid to large-sized projects.
- Mentor all team members on Design Delivery workflow and best practices.
- Review the work of others when needed prior to delivery to internal client.
What you'll need:
- At least 7 years of experience with Structural Drawings or in combination Structural and Architectural drawings.
- Ability to use various drafting and design related software including, but not limited to, AutoCAD, Revit, ProjectWise, Bluebeam REVU, and Microsoft products. Ability to use MicroStation, OpenPlant a plus.
- Adequate understanding of land surveying, code requirements and industry standards where applicable.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic structural engineering principles including structural systems, rebar detailing, bolting and welding symbols.
- Ability to interact, collaborate and communicate with project teams in a positive and proactive manner.
- Strong writing, editing and research skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering construction drawings.
