Position Summary

The Senior Auditor Enterprise Risk Management facilitates JetBlue's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program and is responsible for partnering with leadership to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor enterprise risks. Furthermore, the Senior Auditor is a liaison for reporting findings and status to Corporate Audit Leadership, key stakeholders, JetBlue Senior Leadership, and/or the Audit Committee.

The Senior Auditor also assists with the annual audit plan by leading and performing internal audits and conducting continuous auditing and monitoring reviews, including participation in and/or monitoring project implementations. The Senior Auditor provides leadership with accurate, independent, and timely recommendations regarding control weaknesses and opportunities for improvement at all airline and support center locations, including but not limited to airport operations, purchasing and receiving, inventory, accounts payable, payroll, leases, sales and revenue recognition, cash management, employee benefits, and flight rewards.

Essential Responsibilities


  • Facilitates the implementation of JetBlue's ERM program and proactively provides key input to the enhancement and execution of the program, ensuring alignment with organizational/strategic objectives.

  • Facilitates the identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks, remaining cognizant of changes in the risk environment and maintaining the company's risk profile.

  • Facilitates the development, implementation, and monitoring of risk response/mitigation plans, including risk drivers, mitigating controls, and key risk indicators (KRIs) that outline leadership's risk tolerance levels and appetite.

  • Maintains the ERM Risk Dashboard and reports all relevant ERM matters (including status, findings, and risk positions) to Corporate Audit Leadership, key stakeholders, JetBlue Senior Leadership, and/or the Audit Committee to support efficient leadership decision making.

  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with all levels of the company (including Senior Leadership) in order to partner with them and assist them in achieving their goals.

  • Leads and performs internal audits (financial, operational, and/or Sarbanes-Oxley Act - Section 404) in accordance with the annual audit plan and department manual/guidelines.

  • Prepares and finalizes planning and announcement memos, assists in determining audit scope, and prepares and executes audit programs.

  • Works with process owners to obtain a full understanding of the control environment and prepares narratives, flowcharts, and risk assessment matrices to document risks and their respective mitigating controls.

  • Analyzes audit evidence and documents work performed and conclusions reached.

  • Monitors team status, keeps the Corporate Audit Manager informed of the status of all audits in progress, and discusses any issues noted with the Corporate Audit Manager and leadership.

  • Supervises test work, performs detailed review of staff work papers (and peer reviews if necessary) to ensure compliance with department and IIA standards, prepares coaching notes, and ensures that coaching notes are satisfactorily closed.

  • Provides consolidated written documentation (draft audit report) of all audit issues and agreed-upon corrective actions for closing meetings. Responsible for conducting closing meetings.

  • Tracks outstanding audit issues and ensures that they are remediated timely.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, or a related field.

  • Three (3) years internal audit, enterprise risk management, business process consulting, and/or public accounting experience.

  • One (1) year audit supervisory experience.


  • Excellent concept of risk and internal control; able to assist process owners in designing and implementing controls to mitigate risk and able to recognize significant control issues and exposures in emerging situations.

  • Knowledge of and skill in applying internal audit standards, accounting principles (GAAP), and preferred business practices.


  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and complete assignments timely with sufficient attention to detail to ensure accuracy and thoroughness of coverage, with latitude for initiative and independent judgment.


  • Excellent analytical skills, organizational abilities, and written and verbal communication skills, including active listening and presentation skills and the ability to negotiate issues and proactively resolve problems.

  • Ability to effectively develop and maintain strong working relationships and interface with all levels of the company (including Senior Leadership and all members of the Corporate Audit Department).

  • Knowledge of basic information technology controls, terminology, concepts, and practices.

  • Strong skills with MS Office.


  • Available for occasional overnight travel (15%).

  • In valid possession of travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States.


  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test.

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications


  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley - Section 404 testing.

  • Master's Degree.

  • CIA, CPA, and/or CISA (or eligible and pursuing).

  • Experience with Onspring, data analytic tools (e.g., Alteryx, Spotfire), and/or SAP a plus.

  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice.

  • Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance.

  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable Crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft.

  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue's confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
