Senior Marketing Specialist Washington, DC; Tysons, Richmond, Williamsburg, or Virginia Beach, VA; or Charlotte or Raleigh, NC
At VHB, we're elevating A/E/C marketing. We're looking for a senior-level marketer who thrives on finding new, creative ways to sell your story-you know how to develop compliant proposals in response to complex RFPs, and you love weaving a strong theme throughout your proposals to make them cohesive. You're a strategic thinker ready to partner with engineers, scientists, planners, and designers from pre-positioning through project delivery, going beyond "can we do the work?" to "this is how we will win the work!"
You'll be joining a growing, connected team of marketers in driving business growth across the Mid-Atlantic region. Here's what your future coworkers have to say:
"Teamwork actually works on our team-we're supportive, resourceful, and genuinely like one another."
"Defined career paths for marketers exist at VHB! The company helps you get to where you want to go-even as far as an Associate or Principal."
"We can use the word 'strategic' in reference to a proposal and not have to put air quotes around it!"
"Technical staff are open to listening to marketing's perspective. We have a true seat at the table at VHB."
In this role, you will:
Lead the development of proposals and presentations for the region's most complex pursuits. Organize and facilitate pursuit strategy meetings prior to RFP release. Develop Proposal Management Plans by interpreting complex Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Work directly with technical staff as well as graphic designers and junior-level marketing staff to prepare proposal materials. Ensure that all sections of the proposal include differentiating win themes and that sections are compliant, timely, and well written.
Organize and coach technical staff for presentations. Help develop presentation materials and lead storyboarding sessions, leading to a compelling overall presentation.
Develop qualifications packages and other marketing collateral in support of pre-positioning activities. Partner with technical staff to develop material tailored to specific client needs and concerns, in alignment with VHB's brand.
Work with graphic design staff to plan and produce materials that effectively communicate the strategic vision identified for each pursuit, in alignment with VHB's brand.
Serve as a mentor to junior-level marketing staff. May provide peer QA/QC of proposals.
Perform other duties as needed. (If you're the right fit for this role, you know that a pursuit involves much more than just the proposal! You'll be working across the Client Maintenance/Development - Visibility - Pursuit cycle.)
Required skills and attributes:
Strong writer, editor, and communicator with a positive attitude
Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong creative and strategic thinking skills
Detail oriented
Able to work well under deadline pressure
Able to handle multiple assignments concurrently
Comfortable working with staff in person and remotely
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or comparable field
6+ years of professional experience in a marketing and/or communications role in the A/E/C industry. Involvement in the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) or similar a plus
Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) certification or similar a plus
Skilled in using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel, as well as the Adobe Creative Suite (specifically InDesign and Acrobat). Experience with Microsoft Dynamics a plus
