Job Description:



Responsible for administering the completion of payroll for the employees in the US and Canada locations. Major responsibilities include system and process function expertise and excellence, accounting, internal controls and audit. Scope includes processing new hires, terminations, leave of absence, calculation of retroactive pay and bonuses, and a strong understanding of statutory pay and taxation regulations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure all payroll processing activities are completed in accordance with published schedules, such that employees receive pay on time and Meritor accounts can be closed for financial reporting; Resolve escalated/complex employee issues that require managerial intervention or involve other process areas; Develop, implement and ensure compliance with policies and procedures necessary to support operations; Examine operational policies and make informed recommendations for process improvement and regulatory compliance.

• Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll taxes in accordance with published standards and controls.

• Process Payroll Taxes in accordance with internal control standards, including but not limited to determining and remitting federal, state, and local tax withholdings; preparing and submitting tax reporting filings, reconciling accounts and generating pay reconciliation reports.

• Conduct periodic and required payroll and tax-reporting audits; Identify and reconcile corrections as needed; Remit final period end reports and interfaces.

• Assist with monthly accounting close and account reconciliation to ensure accurate compliance.

• Prepare reporting for agencies as required.

• Perform analysis reporting, makes recommendations and determinations and prepare related reports.

• Establish and maintain proper controls for compliance while working with internal and external auditors to maintain quality assurance.

• Provide support to all departments regarding payroll tax issues, policies and procedures.

• Interpret company policies and governmental regulations related to payroll.

• Administer escheatment requirements by identifying outstanding checks, working with Finance and third-party escheatment vendor, and taking the appropriate corrective actions.

• Responsible for year-end processing, preparation and balancing of W-2 and W-2c filings.

Core Competencies:

• Strong working knowledge of Windows and Software (Excel, PeopleSoft HCM, Kronos Time/Attendance)

• Strong organizations skills—ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously



• 3-5 years of experience processing in a multi- site and multi-state payroll environment. Knowledge of Payroll principles and practices

• Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations.

• Working knowledge of PeopleSoft, Automated Time and Attendance (Kronos), ADP and Query.

• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills in a collaborative environment

• Strong organizational skills—ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

• Ability to apply technical knowledge and expertise to HR/Payroll policies and processes

Education Details:

Bachelor's Level Degree (Preferred)
