City Experiences is seeking a Accounting Manager for our City Ferry operation in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

About the Opportunity:


This position is located in Puerto Rico and requires the skills of an energetic, qualified accountant with minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar position ideally within the maritime industry. This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining all of the necessary accounting policies and procedures and internal controls required to ensure timely and accurate financial information, while fully safeguarding the company’s assets at all times. This individual must possess strong strategic/financial planning skills as well as the ability to lead, collaborate and mentor staff from all levels in the organization to create and maintain a corporate culture of fiscal accountability.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Safety First. Be an active advocate of, and participant in, the HMS Safety Culture. Safety shall always remain the highest priority.

  • Remain true to and champion the Company’s RESPECT Core Values and Code of

  • Consider reliability and efficiency regarding Company

  • Accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Perform timely and proper recording of transactions, including accounts payable, invoicing, credit card processing, and payroll.

  • Complete month-end and year-end financial closing process, including journal entries, bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures including a strong system of internal controls.

  • Manage the purchase order process.

  • File necessary reports and returns for tax and regulatory compliance.

  • Coordinate and monitor the forecast and annual budget process including analyzing actual financial results against budgeted amounts.

  • Prepare management reports and assist senior management with financial planning as requested.

  • Additional job duties as assigned.

 Requirements & Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree required; finance/accounting preferred

  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish (REQUIRED)

  • Must be proficient with an enterprise accounting system (Great Plains or similar)

  • Adept with confidential, sensitive matters and information

  • Must be organized, able to multi-task; ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to communicate clearly and effectively- both orally and written

  • Complete work assignments as directed and efficiently

  • Must be a self-starter and be proactive

  • Strong interpersonal skills are required

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

  • Exceptional customer service skills

  • Minimum of five (5) years of similar financial or accounting experience

  • Proven track record of working successfully in a team environment, including remote teams

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
