Shipping and Recieving Clerk - Temporary Position at Compressor Controls in Des Moines, Iowa

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Global Purchasing Manager the Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for the activities related to receiving, inventorying, issuing, and shipping or making deliveries of materials, supplies, tools, equipment and parts in or to warehouse location(s).

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Listed in order of relevance:

• Receiving all inbound purchase orders and work orders within the business system


• Fulfilling all aspects of shipments, i.e. creating airway bill, delivering lines on sales orders


• Preparing of all equipment for shipping, such as: picking, pulling, inspecting, packing and crating of all items


• Ensure that the right parts are picked, the quantity is correct


• Perform inventory adjustments as needed


• Responsible for re-ordering of all shipping supplies


• Responsible for all outbound shipments for all aspects of the business


• Responsible to make necessary changes in all documentation according to customer requirements


• Will assist in communicating shipping requirements with multiple global offices


• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor


• Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.


• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED required; Technical or business training preferred


• Experience with an ERP system is required i.e. (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP)


• Experience with multiple shipping platforms preferred i.e. (DHL, UPS, FedEx)


• 1-year experience in order picking and processing required


• International shipping experience is a plus

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Computer fluency including use of ERP system and email


• Ability to show sound judgment and initiative to accomplish assigned duties/responsibilities without close supervision


• Ability to communicate effectively with other personnel


• Ability to develop and implement record-keeping processes/procedures


• Ability to read, speak, and write in English required

WORKING CONDITIONS

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Occasionally loading/unloading trucks outside in any weather condition.
