As a Product Designer, you will raise the visual quality of products while prioritizing user value and delight. You will champion principles of simplicity, consistency, accessibility, and will partner with engineering teammates to realize that design vision. You will value beautiful design and insist on solutions that communicate clearly, are inclusive, and easy for users to learn.
What You’ll Be Doing
Performing design audits on our SaaS products
Aligning designs across products to achieve greater cohesion and consistency
Creating stunning yet subtle visual designs and animations
Coordinating with UX Architects and Product Managers on the product look & feel vision and communicating that vision to others effectively
Creating easy to follow specifications to support developers in building the team’s designs
Reviewing developed products to ensure design quality through the product lifecycle
What You’ll Bring to the Table
Bachelor or associate degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Digital Media or the equivalent academic or professional experience
Minimum of 2 years of product design experience
Portfolio documenting a rigorous approach to creating high-fidelity UI designs
Appreciation for the end-user
Ability to design for complexity and ease-of-use
Ability to deliver design assets on a deadline
Comfort working toward pixel-perfection, but a willingness to pivot with feedback
Ability to communicate effectively, in both writing and speech
Ability to demo the highlights of a design to a product team
Ability and comfort working with developers in understanding the fine points of UI design
Willingness to provide and receive critique in a constructive manner
Effectively communicate your design rationale when making design decisions
Courage to hold CBORD and Horizon accountable for design quality (with the backing of the team)
Experience designing for a commercial product
Willingness to design both enterprise and consumer-facing software experiences
Ability to apply (and knowing when to break) core design standards: iOS Guidelines, Material Design, Bootstrap, etc.
Being able to hold conversations about HTML & CSS and various Javascript Frameworks (i.e., Angular) and how a design can be implemented into code
Willingness to learn or experience with version control software
High level of experience with design tools, such as Sketch/Figma/InVision
Experience in 1 or more of the following: Iconographic Design, Illustration, Motion Design, Visual Accessibility Considerations, Whitelabeling, Branding, Interaction Design
What’s Good to Know
Our team is partially composed of remote team members, including some outside the US. It may be necessary for occasional meetings outside normal working hours.
There may be some very infrequent travel related to this position.
You will need to be comfortable interacting with customers and end users occasionally.
