Job Description:

The Regional Healthy Living Director - Y Experience's primary responsibility is to improve our brand, quality and consistency of our healthy living experience across their region consisting of 4-5 branches. Regional Healthy Living Director must drive a transformative and engaging experience within health and wellness, with an explicit focus on group exercise and fitness centers. This position will hire, train, coach and supervise all staff that are responsible for the implementation of group exercise based healthy living programs. The Regional Healthy Living Director of Member Experience must be a subject matter expert and innovator in the areas of group exercise, current fitness trends and engagement activities to increase member retention.

This position will be responsible for ensuring that all the procedures and best practices related to healthy living fee based and medically based programs are followed. The position will conduct regular reality checks to make certain that all programs are of high quality, follow Y procedures and best practices. The position must maintain a book of business equivalent to 25% of direct service.

Key Functions/Responsibilities:

In accordance with the policies, by-laws and constitution of the YMCA of Greater Boston, the Regional Director of Healthy Living Programs will support the successful execution of the YMCA of Greater Boston's strategic imperatives to be a charity, partner, and employer of choice for years to come. The Regional Director of Healthy Living Programs will create a transformative Y Experience that builds loyal members, energizes employees and volunteers, inspires donors and stimulates growth and innovation.

The Regional Director of Healthy Living - Y Experience will drive success in the following areas of responsibility to support a strong Y Experience:

Performance Achievement: Accountable for the performance of your Regions Healthy Living Experience team. Directly responsible for hiring, coaching and managing all direct reports and ensuring compliance with hiring practices the YMCA of Greater Boston. Conducts and leads regular trainings to ensure staff are equipped to drive a high quality Y experience. Conducts quarterly connections with direct reports to ensure progress on OKRs, and discuss career development. Works with team to solve problems by creating systems that lead to improved performance.
Customer Service and Experience: Hold staff accountable to delivering the YMCA of Greater Boston's standards of excellence. Conducts Reality Checks and hold staff accountable to exemplary service to members and program participants. Reviews and responds immediately to net-promoter feedback and concerns. Works with branch experience teams to identify trends and creates systems to improve the Y experience. Reviews reservations data and identify opportunities to maximize member benefit and participation. \Group Exercise Enrollment, growth and experience: Work with region branch teams to collect, track and assess key data to manage Group Exercise offerings and schedules in order to maximize group exercise participation. Eliminates classes with low participation and replaces them with promising/relevant group exercise offerings that will grow participation. Find ways to expand offerings in high demand. Monitors quality of offerings and instructors by conducting reality checks on a consistent basis based on the YMCA of Greater Boston's expectations.
Trends: Stays current on trend identification and implications for their region in the following areas: Service area demographics, Competitive analysis and external environment changes, Special events in the community, Group Exercise and Health and Wellness in general, Membership, Review branch specific trends specific to Group Exercise. Fitness Center Reservations and member feedback
Fiscal Management: Supports the development of annual budget according to association instructions and ensures successful execution to the plan. Works with direct reports to identify growth opportunities and correct financial deficiencies on a timely basis.
Innovation: Leads design thinking practices to develop innovative solutions for their region, and association wide opportunities and challenges. Works to master demonstrate and coach others in design thinking.
Marketing and Community Engagement: Represents and promotes Healthy Living Programs and Membership in the community and at events. Actively drives internal marketing efforts to promote group exercise, challenges in the app, and cross promotion of other program areas. Develops grass root marketing strategies to drive enrollment and engagement.
Collaboration: Work in a collaborative nature with multiple staff across branches in your region. Uses influence to inspire others to action. Works with others to solve problems and to improve the Y experience.
Operational Effectiveness: Ensures expectations around scheduling, cleanliness and safety are met. Ensure that the facility and equipment all meets the YMCA of Greater Boston's standards of excellence. Maintains current listing of equipment and engages a team to think about opportunities when equipment leases are ending.
Member Engagement: Leads regional team to create and execute regular engagement events, in person and/or virtual. Utilized the YMCA of Greater Boston app, and wearables to increase participation and help members achieve their personal goals.
Direct Service: Expected to spend a minimum of 25% of time with members through direct service, which can include teaching group exercise, working the fitness floor, and hosting engagement events or challenges.
