As a General Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership of all operational functions of the Terminal in Port Everglades. Additional responsibilities for this position also include:


  • Responsible to ensure all terminal operations are completed in compliance of applicable Company and regulatory policies and procedures, i.e., personnel safety, cargo operations, hazmat handling, etc.
  • Establishes annual budgets and track performance.
  • Reviews operating results to ensure budgeted goals are achieved and expenses controlled.
  • Coordinate and negotiate outside contractor and service provider alliances/agreements.
  • Operate in multiple locations and/or foreign locations and interface/coordinate with other company functions such a legal, labor relations, risk management, marine operations, cross functional teams etc. Develops and maintains business relations with customer base, both internal and external.
  • Assign and assist with the development of Crowley personnel to work in cross-functional teams to work on specific projects or tasks as required.
  • Analyze both short- and long-term opportunities and draft business plans for management approval. Coordinate common activities with other Crowley divisions when and where appropriate.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in business, transportation or a related field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education. MBA preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 10 years business management experience in related maritime area. May require international business experience.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient with Microsoft Office 360 suit. Terminal Operating System experience valuable.

COMPETENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including conveying technical information to technical and non-technical users. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners. Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives. Ability to prepare, monitor and administer budgets, as well as the ability to perform financial analysis. Ability to lead and function effectively within and as part of a team. Ability to mentor, coach, train, develop and/or supervise employees and emerging leaders. Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope. Ability to identify and/or document existing and new trends, as well as evaluate and predict their impact on the organization. Ability to provide subject matter expertise, counsel, and effectively influence others at various levels within the organization. Knowledge of and ability to conduct need, trend, feasibility and performance assessments. Knowledge of and ability to apply the concepts, principles and practices of change management.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with some exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time.
