Job Description Summary

We’ll shortly be looking for a post-production supervisor to manage the flow of projects in production and post-production at L.A. Times Studios, a video production brand owned by Nant Media Holdings, LLC. L.A. Times Studios is responsible for a variety of projects, including “Second Opinion,” a digital series on public health, climate, technology and other topics, and Bravo’s television adaptation of the hit Los Angeles Times podcast “Dirty John.”

Studios currently has additional projects in the pipeline requiring the help of a seasoned post-production professional. The post-production supervisor will ensure quality and best practices across all studios productions, advising teams during pre and post-production.

This role will call for hands-on work where necessary, including finishing edits and generating graphic treatments and art elements. The ideal candidate is experienced in media management but is also skilled in video editing and graphics. Adobe Creative Suite skills required.

Job Description

Responsibilities:


  • Advises teams from start of projects through launch and post. Is key voice on production workflow, including but not limited to: technical specs, media management, back-to-base logistics, and post-production workflow. Also works with EP and producers from the early stages on aesthetic matters, including art direction and graphic look.

  • Manages studios production and post-production inventory. Works closely with EP on procurement of equipment; stays across the latest in industry technology.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Premier, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and others).

  • Understanding of and experience with broadcast media grid workflow.

  • At least ten years in television news or film or video post-production.

  • Has several years of news experience. Grasp of fundamental news principles a must.

  • Has post-production supervisor experience.

  • Thrives under pressure and is flexible; understands weekend and off-hours are an occasional part of the job.

  • Is a team player. The post production supervisor is collaborative and able to interface with all members of a production team.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Several years of post-production supervisor experience is a plus.

  • Experience at a major news organization.

  • Experience working across platform with print-side creative directors.

  • Excellent communication skills and finely-tuned EQ.
