Automotive Buyer at Schaeffler Group in Fort Mill, South Carolina

Job Description:

Schaeffler, a global automotive and industrial supplier, is seeking an Automotive Buyer in Fort Mill, SC. This person will reduce total costs of new product development and improve productivity on mature product activities by identifying and implementing cost reduction activities related to the product line.

Key responsibilies include but not limited to:

• Actively winning new business by meeting RFQ timeline and target costs
• Representing and integrating Purchasing into New Product Development (NPD)
• Assisting NPD team in developing detailed project plans including technical, cost, and schedule performance
• Leading efforts related to faster introduction of product to market, cost reduction, supply base rationalization, improvement in the cost of quality, and cycle-time reduction
• Acting as technical resource on re-sourcing or value engineering

Qualified candidates will have:

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent related curriculum.
• Familiarity with concurrent engineering and understanding of Supply Chain Management.
• Experience in working with and leading cross-functional teams.
• Experience in automotive manufacturing, engineering, and/or project management.
• Excellent systems aptitude (SAP experience a plus)
• Must have strong Microsoft Office, Verbal & Written Communication skills
• Must be able to travel around 25%.
