This position is at the Learning Research and Development Center (LRDC), a multi-disciplinary center for research to advance the science of learning by bringing together leading researchers in the cognitive, social, and educational sciences. This position will function as a laboratory research coordinator on projects involving developmental and community psychology research on how youth learn about and challenge racism. Duties include recruiting families for research studies, scheduling, preparing and running research studies; analyzing data; developing and maintaining databases; supervising undergraduate research assistants; maintaining paperwork; contributing to, proofing, and editing research reports, proposals and presentations. Also, contributing to creating presentations for community outreach in English or Spanish and the communication of research findings to parents, schools, and students in English or Spanish.
Qualifications include: B.A./B.S. and course work in psychology or related area: excellent interpersonal communication (e.g., verbal and written), and organizational skills; substantial research experience with families of color (e.g., African American, Latinx) and low-income families; experience using software such as Excel and SPSS. Speaking and writing in Spanish is desired, but not required. Tentative start date late April/early May 2021. A two-year commitment is required. Position is full-time, at 37.5 hours/week. Flexible work availability is desireable. For example, some activities might occur on the weekend (e.g., meeting with student groups) or after regular business hours. Relative student research experience is acceptable.
