The Scripps Networks (a growing portfolio of entertainment and news networks) provides absorbing entertainment and objective, intelligent news as we use our own distribution platforms to serve this unduplicated national audience. We meet the audience where it is with the programs it wants.

Scripps Networks is looking for a Standards & Practices Editor (News) to work with network employees to present the highest quality content while ensuring adherence to network and company standards and regulations. This is achieved by providing education, guidance and review for colleagues in accordance with the established code of standards for network content.

What you'll do:


  • Interact daily with Newsy and Court TV staff to offer guidance on programming content, both live and pre-produced


  • Review raw elements and pre-produced content to be used in Newsy and Court TV programming, with an eye towards adherence to network standards, as well as continuity and accuracy


  • Maintain an open line of communication with Newsy and Court TV newsrooms/control rooms, helping production and editorial staff handle potentially sensitive or objectionable material that requires immediate attention


  • Understand and accurately implement standards as they apply specifically to the different platforms on which Newsy and Court TV content may be distributed


  • Maintain a knowledge base of national news, as well as an understanding of journalistic ethics and guidelines, to aid in communication with Newsy and Court TV editorial staff


What you'll bring:

Skills & Abilities


  • Excellent verbal, written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required


  • Prior experience in news or journalism and/or analyzing materials for Standards and Practices concerns is a plus


  • Proven track record of problem-solving and taking initiative in cross-departmental communication and processes


Education & Experience/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is required
