We currently have an exciting opportunity for a talented Software Developer to join our team, based in either our Grand Rapids, Michigan office.

This position is responsible for software development of the Dematic extension used in the Configura CET Designer application. This extension, along with the base software, is used internally to design and provide material handling systems for our customers.

The successful candidate will work within a global development team to ensure quality and provide effective solutions for the end users. In addition, the individual will be responsible for providing expertise of material handling equipment used within the region and providing user support.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

• Working on implementing new features and bug fixes to provide an effective tool for end users


• Working within a global Agile development team


• Attending and contributing in regular meetings for highlighting progress, project improvement, and developer collaboration


• Providing code reviews, and other quality assurance measures, for others on the team


• Working with DevOps on items related to their processes


• Contributing to the continuous improvement of the team and code base


• Being a Subject Matter Expert for region specific equipment


• Providing regional user support for the tool

  Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications, experience and attributes:

  
  
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronic Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  
  
  • Proficient in Configura CM code base OR similar Object-oriented programming language
  
  
  • Excellent mechanical and electrical application design aptitude
  
  
  • Experience developing front-end software
  
  
  • Passion for creating impactful software and desire to continually improve the quality of code
  
  
  • Desire to learn all aspects of the tool and to work closely with other developers to gain understanding of new features, dependencies, and technical details.
  
  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and time-management skills
  
  
  • Self-motivated with ability to think analytically, research solutions and problem solve independently
  
  
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills and desire to assist users within the region
  
  
  • Willing and able to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  
  
  
  

  The following experience would also be highly advantageous:

  
  
  • Experience with material handling equipment
  
  
  • 3D parametric programming OR 3D game development like Unity 3D
  
  
  • Experience with a 3D design application (AutoCAD, or NX)
  
  
  • Experience with, and ability to query, SQL databases
  
  
  • Working knowledge of Agile development methodologies
