Trust Tax officer position is responsible for individual income tax return review and filing of final individual income tax returns under the direction of the Trust Tax Manager.  This typically involves working with outside tax preparers and assisting them with the preparation of final income tax returns, communicating with IRS and state tax authorities, and responding to various notices received on individual income tax matters.

Responsibilities:


  • Work in partnership with the estate settlement team to identity and track accounts requiring final individual tax returns.

  • Engage outside preparers and provide support in working with them on final individual tax returns for deceased clients.

  • Investigate missing required outside tax documents and assess materiality and appropriate reporting if these documents are not available.


  • Bachelor's degree required; CPA preferred but not required.

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience preparing or reviewing individual income tax returns required.

  • Knowledge of gifting, estate and income taxation.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills required to manage work over extended period and meet critical deadlines.

  • Ability to make timely and sound business judgment decisions and accurately assess materiality of issues.

  • Highly skilled in written and oral communication on complex tax matters and high level of interpersonal skills.
