Services are delivered throughout the asset life cycle, from concept to construction to long-term operations, maintenance and rehabilitation.

Summary

TranSystems seeks an Outreach Specialist who will help people change their travel behaviors with the overall goal of shifting single-occupancy vehicle (SOV) commuter trips to carpooling, transit, biking, walking, telecommuting, and other alternative transportation services.  The primary role of the specialist is to ensure the successful implementation and maintenance of Transportation Demand Management (TDM) programs related to employer and commuter outreach.  The specialist reports to the Program Manager..  

Location: Southwest Florida (Hire will be based in one of the following counties: Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Highlands, Lee, Manatee, Okeechobee, Polk and Sarasota). The ability to travel locally to client and partner sites throughout southwestern Florida is required. 

                                                                                            

Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities

General Duties & Responsibilities include the following: 


  • Coordinate and implement outreach and sales activities with internal and external stakeholders, local transit operators, governments, employers, and various other partner organizations to implement commute alternative programs (carpool, transit, biking, walking, teleworking, and flextime).

  • Engage with employers and commuters in-person, via email, and phone to develop and maintain relationships and participation in programs and campaigns.

  • Facilitate and support the formation and continuation of new and existing carpools.

  • Develop new and innovative approaches to market and recruit new clients.

  • Document and maintain accurate commuter, employer, and partnership records.

  • Attend, staff, and/or present at meetings, events, and presentations to promote and maintain commute alternative programs.

  • Track progress against participation goals, produce reports and make recommendations for key performance indicators.

  • Provide input to strategic decisions including design and plans that affect employer services and outreach.

  • Coordinate with other team members and partners to ensure a high quality of outreach and engagement is provided to all employer clients.

  • Work collaboratively with regional partners to accurately and successfully market partner products and services.

  • Participate in internal team strategy meetings to assess engagement activity, improve ongoing effectiveness, and develop/meet individual and team goals.

  • Help answer incoming telephone calls and respond to inquiries.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field. 

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in one or a combination of the following: business development, sales, marketing, outreach, public relations, or related field. 

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in public speaking and in organizing and implementing marketing campaigns, outreach efforts, and promotional activities.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite required; Salesforce experience preferred.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class E Driver’s License.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • This position requires knowledge of sales, communications, marketing, outreach, and public speaking.  Knowledge of, and experience with, Transportation Demand Management (TDM), transit, transportation, or other public services is preferred but not required.  Communication skills, including strong writing and presentation skills, are a requirement of this position.  The ability to explain complex data in plain language is highly important.

  • This position requires local travel within a 12-county territory in southwestern Florida; with reliable transportation, (mileage is eligible for reimbursement).  


  • Knowledge of effective sales strategies and techniques, including promotional campaigns and materials; practices involved in effective office administration and coordination of projects; engagement campaigns that are designed to generate public interest.


  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.  Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines.  Developing outlines and implementation plans; planning, developing, and implementing promotional programs; stimulating public interest and enthusiasm through the development of various outreach programs and campaigns; and establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships. 


  • Exceptional communication, both written and verbal.  Exercise independent judgment.  Competent in computer programs such as Microsoft Office.  Occasional availability for after-hours presentations and activities is required.
