DHL currently has an exciting opportunity available for an Americas Gateways Intern, based out of Plantation, FL. This position will provide analytical support in the development of Gateway and Customs operations efficiency projects (collect, analyze, identify patterns and trends in data sets). They will also assist in the evaluation of Gateway processes, anticipates requirements, uncovers area for improvement, and supports the implementation of solutions.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs deep data analysis of Gateway processes, checkpoint compliance and business rules


• Reviews of business processes and supports the development of optimization strategies


• Stays up-to-date on the latest Gateways and IT advancements to automate and modernize processes


• Supports with data the conduction meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings based on statistics


• Gathers critical information from DHL systems and produces useful reports


• Assists in the allocation and definition of resources in order to maintain cost efficiency


• Assists in performing user acceptance testing for Clearance applications


• Act as primary back up in Regional Manager activities


• Creation of reports for internal teams and with great benefits for the Americas Gateways operations


• Develop good synergy with team members to collect and analyze data


• Establish standard tools such as graphs, infographics, and other methods to visualize data


• Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of business decisions


• Structure large data sets to find usable information


• Work with a team of analysts and other associates to process information

Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in progress (Junior/Senior/Graduating) a relevant field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics or Economics)


• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and advanced knowledge of MS Excel and MS Access


• Analytical and problem-solving skills


• Coding skills in languages such as SQL, Python and/or R (desirable)


• Knowledge of data gathering, cleaning and transforming techniques


• Reporting and data visualization skills using software like Tableau (desirable)


• Ability to set and meet deadlines


• Ability to work in high-pressure situations


• Excellent attention to detail


• Strong written/verbal communication skills


• Interest in logistics operations and processes automation


• Results oriented with a strong focus on high quality service performance across different locations with diverse conditions


• Strong data analysis skills
