If you are an Engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Sidney, Ohio location, you will be responsible for leading an engineering team focused on the reliability assessment of ComRes HVACR products. The reliability team actively participates in various stages of the product life cycle.You will partner with the engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to leverage global laboratory resources and oversee reliability risk assessment campaigns on new and existing products. In addition, you will continue to drive innovation in reliability assessment methods to align with the business objective of improving speed-to-market on new products. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a deep technical engineering team in a fast-paced, innovative, and global environment with an objective of ensuring that Commercial and Residential HVACR products are meeting and exceeding customer expectations of product reliability. AS MANAGER - RELIABILITY ENGINEERING, YOU WILL: 


  • Partner with the new product development teams to define product reliability requirements and assess reliability of Emerson HVACR products including compression, systems, and electronics.
  • Collaborate with global product testing labs and product development teams to remove resource bottlenecks, execute test plans, and ensure accuracy of reliability test campaigns.
  • Engage product development, manufacturing, and quality teams to identify, prioritize and minimize product reliability and safety risks.
  • Actively participate in gate reviews, product risk assessment reviews and launch decisions. Manage customer data requests on product reliability and safety.
  • Provide technical guidance and consultation to global reliability engineers on key reliability activities like test planning, testing, post-test teardown, reporting and reliability data analytics.
  • Leverage global reliability resources to modernize reliability tools and techniques. Utilize physics-of-failure approach to link non-conformance modes observed on products during reliability test campaign and field applications.
  • Apply new reliability tools and analytical methods to reduce reliability test campaign duration and improve speed-to-market on new products.
  • Be responsible for recruitment, retention, and development of reliability resources through annual performance review and talent development processes.
  • Set and implement team goals aligned with department values, vision, mission and objectives. 
  • Drive team KPI's, safety, continuous improvement activities using strong background in lean, perfect execution & project management principles.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics or equivalent and ten (10+) years relevant experience.
  • Deep knowledge of HVACR applications, reliability assessment techniques, statistics, physics-of-failure theory to assess component, compressor & system reliability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to apply creative thinking to solve complex problems.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal skills and ability to develop collaborative relationships.
  • Proven computer skills including MS Words, excel, PowerPoint.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship for this role will not be provided. 

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  

  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics or MBA degree and eight (8+) years of relevant experience or equivalent
  • Broad understanding of high-speed machinery, rotational dynamic, durability, stress analysis, tribology and material science.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a deep technical team including setting of expectations, guiding professional development, and providing coaching & feedback.
  • Hands-on experience working with reliability assessment tools like WinSmith and/or Reliasoft.
