Job Summary


  • Project Manager, Principal in the Health Solutions PMO

  • Responsible for all aspects of project management involving cross-functional teams focused on delivery of internal products, programs, or administrative systems.

  • Develops and manages plans and directs schedules, resources, and budgets.

  • Manages projects from initiation through delivery and interfacing with internal customers.

  • Scope and complexity of projects may vary. May have responsibility for leading and overseeing other project managers.

  • Applies Agile or Waterfall methodologies to projects as appropriate.

Responsibilities


  • Direct large-scale, complex projects that may involve multiple internal and external stakeholders.

  • Develop the project charter, integrated project plan, resource plan, contingency plan, and related project management artifacts.

  • Evaluate trade-offs between project size and complexity, cost, urgency, risk, and stakeholder value.

  • Validate financial forecasts and provide on-going reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures.

  • Partner with business sponsors to define success metrics and criteria.

  • Build, lead, and coach multiple project teams throughout project lifecycles.

  • Facilitate all operational checkpoint activities throughout the lifecycle of projects.

  • Assess and resolve all high priority project risks as they are encountered.

  • Ensure all projects adhere to project methodology compliance standards set by the company.

  • Continually update relevant business stakeholders of project status and periodically publish project status reports.

  • Define and track project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall and integrated delivery plan.

  • Ensure all projects meet success parameters and ROI targets stated in the business case.

  • Assist, share learning, and mentor others within the PMO regarding standards, organizational understanding, and relationship building to promote the successful delivery of projects.

  • Works across the enterprise to understand dependencies and manages those to support the programfor both IT and supporting business deliverables.

  • Other duties as assigned.








Knowledge and Experience


  • Requires hands on project management experience in leading, managing, and executing large, complex projects that cross IT, Business, and other areas.

  • Has advanced knowledge and skills including technical or functional expertise, business acumen, financial analysis skills, risk management, delegation skills, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.

  • Able to work independently with minimum direction or supervision required.

  • Possesses strong collaboration and partnership skills in a matrixed work environment required.

  • Working knowledge of Blue Shield of California's mission, vision and strategy.

  • Project Management experience within a healthcare industry required.

  • Requires some form of Professional Project Management certification (examples are PMP certified; CSM, Six Sigma, etc).

  • Requires a college degree or equivalent experience and 10 years ofproject management experience.
