Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Revenue Cycle, the Patient Access Specialist (PAS) is responsible for the successful launch of Patient Access initiatives of our client within the agency.  Candidates should possess a demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness and a results-oriented mindset, the ideal candidate has the primary focus to leverage strategic insights within targeted interconnected inpatient/outpatient systems to achieve identified business objectives including reimbursement support, care transition support, and site of care offerings across the Residential portfolio.

Qualifications:


  1. Minimum of a High School Diploma

  2. 2+ years of reimbursement & access experience required.

  3. Strong access and reimbursement expertise and ability to articulate and communicate complex information.

  4. Substance Abuse or Mental Health experience preferred.

  5. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and self-presentation skills.

  6. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  7. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge in access and reimbursement.

  8. Experience in working/leading cross-functional teams to coordinate and execute plans and projects.

  9. Demonstrated track record of achieving/exceeding responsibilities, goals, and objectives.

  10. Demonstrated track record of educating, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  11. Experience in building customer relationships with organizations, targeted accounts, and other identified key customers

  12. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard programs (Word, Excel, Power Point).

  13. Employees who have been diagnosed with any type of substance use disorder or behavioral addiction/compulsion must have sustained a minimum of two consecutive years of abstinence from all intoxicating substances and symptoms of their chemical and/or behavioral addiction; and must be in full sustained remission.


  1. Patient Access Specialists (PAS) will act as an extension of the Revenue Cycle Department.

  2. Identifies opportunities and develops relationships with current and future health care providers in the mental health community.

  3. Provide education on navigating the access process, patient support services, affordability, and treatment support programs.

  4. Provide reimbursement education leveraging patient healthcare information (PHI) to support the benefits investigation, prior authorization, appeals and exception processes for products and associated clinical services and first dose observation.

  5. Direct customers to key education resources as needed, including reimbursement questions.

  6. Provide reimbursement education leveraging patient healthcare information (PHI)

  7. Be the direct support for admission coordinators and administrative assistants as it relates to authorizations and insurance eligibility.

  8. Preferably, a working knowledge of the targeted geographical area with existing understanding of the local Healthcare environment (hospitals, systems, referral patterns) preferred.

  9. Travel as needed between locations.

  10. Other duties as assigned.
