Job Description:

Position Summary:

This position is a key team member and reports into the Salesforce Lead. This position is responsible for ensuring the security and stability of Salesforce production environments. The ideal candidate should have expertise with the ability to look across the Salesforce platform to help drive continuous improvements and best practices.

The Release Manager oversees the environments to ensure there is a clear path and process for testing and deploying updates to the Salesforce platform. S/he is expected to follow industry best practices for implementing and managing release processes for configuration and code through all environments and to help shape processes in order to continue building our Salesforce footprint. S/he must have the ability to be flexible and proactive to facilitate a quick response to changing project requirements and meeting global goals successfully.

Responsibilities:


  • Plan and execute scheduled releases

  • Define and manage change control processes for development and release readiness criteria and ensure all changes meet criteria prior to deployment

  • Facilitate release activities across all Salesforce development ensuring quality and timely deployments across environments

  • Track release metrics to drive improvement and report successes/failures to stakeholders

  • Ensure version control is utilized properly to maintain artifact history per requirements

  • Assume ownership and continuous improvement of the release process by documenting release issues and developing plans to improve process or automation

  • Ensure the SFDC scheduled updates are considered when deployment schedule is planned

  • Review SFDC release notes to understand new features and communicate release progress/status to Stakeholders

  • Allocate environments for projects and oversee maintenance activities for the duration of the project

  • Perform risk analysis, develop contingency plans, and gather data from functions to proactively raise prioritization and scheduling tradeoff decisions

  • Define and ensure best practices are embraced and rolled out to drive scalability

  • Lead the end-to-end release workflows and detailed steps to ensure on-time and effective delivery of high-quality releases

  • Represent release priorities and align team members through rapid changes

  • Maintain a focus on high-risk changes going out in a release, and steps are taken to mitigate them

  • Refresh planning - manage environment restoration processes to keep all environments healthy, in sync and populated with environment specific data

  • Monitor environment capacity and manage changes to keep capacity aligned with demand

  • Work closely with development team(s) to resolve build problems/merge conflicts

  • Oversee pre and post release tasks to ensure adherence to quality control processes

  • Responsible for maintaining consistency between Salesforce sandbox environments, from Development through QA, UAT and Production

  • Partner with key stakeholders to define release plans for upcoming releases

  • Manage deployments between sandbox environments

  • Ensure development sandboxes are functional and ready for use after deployments or Salesforce releases

  • Data-loading/seeding of sandbox environments to provide functional environments for development and testing

  • Evaluate and mitigate all risks to environment security and stability

  • Partner with compliance to ensure data is managed appropriately and protected

  • Support the development operations structure and audit needs


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field

  • Salesforce Administrator Certification required; Development Lifecycle and Deployment Designer preferred

  • 5+ years of Configuration/Release Management experience with tools like Copado

  • Experience with GitHub

  • Experience with OwnBackup

  • Experience with Salesforce CLI and Visual Studio code

  • Experience with Salesforce Development Lifecycle and continuous delivery / integration (CI/CD)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Motivated self-starter with ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

  • Demonstrated commitment to service and quality

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications effectively

  • Experience with fast and agile release cycles
