Job Description



The Life Safety Systems Engineering unit at Naval Reactors Facility is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer. This position will involve facility systems management, engineering evaluations, and project engineering support and development. This position offers a blended mix of both short and long-term tasks and will involve a variety of fire protection work including: identify and analyze fire hazards, oversee proper installation and maintenance of fire detection, suppression, and communication systems, upgrade to more effective systems and equipment, andresolution of fire codedeficiencies.

A Fire Protection Engineer is a specialty engineering discipline which has specific training and qualifications pertaining to analysis of fire hazards, mitigation of fire damage through proper facility design, and installation/maintenance of fire systems. This position can be successfullyfilled by other engineering disciplines (i.e. mechanical, electrical, civil, etc) with the appropriate personnel development through on-the-jobresources. Internal and external training opportunities will be available in this position to become more knowledgeable within the fire protection discipline as applicable.







Required Skills



Associate:


  • BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university required.

Intermediate:


  • BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience; or

  • MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year of relevant experience; or

  • Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or

  • SRE Qualification







Preferred Skills




  • Degree in Fire Protection Engineering

  • Interest in the fire protection field with ability to learn/qualify as part of the job.
