The Sr. Quality Systems Engineer - New Model Launch serves as active core team member during the product development process (PDP) of assigned programs. Leads execution of all quality responsible deliverables in the PDP process and supports other required activities as defined by Product / Program Manager and the PDP standard work.

This position will serve our Air Division, located in Fort Smith, Arkansas. This position can be partially or fully remote/work-from-home, but the employee must be based in the Fort Smith, Arkansas area, per Rheem's Remote Working Policy.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:


  • Develops, implements, and monitors all quality objectives for the program during and after the launch of assigned projects to ensure all product development objectives are met to customer (internal/external), cost and timeline requirements. Serve as team expert on all core quality tools and train others as required.
  • Supplier Development - Issue and own all PPAPs related to assigned projects / programs. Ensure suppliers have (internal / external) robust processes to prevent and control all identified and potential failure modes. Ensure timely PPAP closure to support PDP project timelines.
  • Analyze new product or process designs for compatibility with the quality system. Evaluate application of good design practices, manufacturing and supplier quality capability and customer's perception of product quality. Analyzes product and process specifications, FMEAs, test methods and other documentation.
  • Participates in product and process design reviews ensuring adequate dimensioning and notes are established to control critical to quality features / properties / characteristics.
  • Develop and coordinate complete quality systems for new products or redesign current quality systems for improvement; applies skills in scientific methodology, statistics and metrology to develop a coordinated system of inspection and test objectives, quality standards, sampling plans. Metrology requirements, design test program and supplier quality system design reviews. Coordinates and assists line functions and suppliers to implement quality system plans.
  • Risk Management - Advocate for all risks identified during PDP appropriately identified, escalated when required, and sufficiently mitigated to meet PDP requirements for function, cost, and timeline.
  • Serve as lead auditor for ISO 9001:2015 internal auditing program
  • Perform other duties as assigned
