About the Position VHB is seeking a full-time Health & Safety Specialist with 5-10 years of experiencefor immediate employment for work on projects and in our Watertown, MA office. This is an internal and external support position.
Responsibilities
Aid in the implementation of best practices and ensure compliance with applicable EHS local, state, federal and company regulations, policies, permits, and work practices for clients and the corporate program
Provide on-site health and safety compliance support at client facilities
Assist H&S Team with the implementation of safety and health initiatives and required written documentation
Develop and provide Health and Safety trainings
Serve on the safety committee
Purchase appropriate personal protective equipment and footwear
Promote incident reporting, perform incident investigations and develop incident statistics and "Lessons Learned"
Ability to visit project sites, clients and offices to maintain a visible presence
Must be ready to respond to emergency notifications
Skills and Attributes
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong presentation skills delivering training to both in-person and online audiences
Highly knowledgeable and efficient in MS Office (specifically Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint); understanding of MS Teams is a plus
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Good organizational and personal time management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment
Can interact effectively with people individually and in small groups
Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
Can understand and follow both verbal and written instructions and direction
Must have a genuine concern for people
Qualifications
5-10 years' experience in a health and safety related role
Physically able to conduct field work including hiking, standing for prolonged periods of time, and/or carrying equipment
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
New employees will be onboarded virtually and begin their employment from home. We are in the process of planning for a safe return to the workplace in alignment with government and CDC guidelines.
