The Sr. Business Analyst for Epic Reporting Workbench reports to the Epic Operations Business Analyst Manager or Lead and is responsible for report intake/triage, eliciting business requirements, constructing specifications, configuration, and executing user acceptance testing of Epic reports. This role is responsible for ongoing maintenance and support of the reports through enhancements, upgrades as well as supporting end users across all Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) service lines in their use of the reports. This person will have a detailed knowledge of the business operations of their department and the applications used. The analyst will support departments and hospital operations including clinic scheduling, nursing, laboratory, and revenue cycle. This person will be working in a matrixed environment with the Dana-Farber Clinical Operations & Business Analytics (COBA) team as well as across Mass General Brigham's Digital Health eCare (DHeC) reporting teams.
Requirements
Submits tickets/issues in accordance with DFCI issue management processes
Execute business operation production tasks necessary for successful business operations (e.g. reconciliation procedures, verify interfaces are working correctly, production reports, etc)
Provide Level 1 support and educate end users with Epic Revenue Cycle applications and complementary applications
Provide Level 1 support for other applications used within the business unit
Answer end user "how-to" questions and support the DFCI Super User Program for business area
Document and analyze business processes and help drive business process improvement workflows
Understand user requirements; translate them to functional requirements/specifications and assist end user with Epic request submissions obtaining team approval
Assist with developing and executing user acceptance testing plans including creation of test cases
Create end-user tip sheets as identified by business users
Participate in regular team meetings to discuss team and project/program related activities, issues, changes, and communications as needed
Adhere to recognized project management tools and methodologies
Assist in identifying and recommending best practices for business analysis, training and end user support functions
Communicate status on various project/program efforts to leadership, internal stakeholders and manage expectations
Uses the DFCI values to govern decisions, actions and behaviors (Impact, Excellence, Compassion and Respect and Discovery)
Create and run analytical reports as needed using tools such as Reporting Workbench, Tableau and other reporting tools
May be asked to provide Quality Assistance tasks as requested by Business Unit managers
Presents initial recommendation on decisions / solution to Business Analyst Mgr to present to DHeC
Participate in any one-time activities necessary to support business operations (e.g. Swat team activities, etc)
Submits and resolves issues in accordance with DFCI issue management processes
Serves as the liaison to DHeC for supported business area and participates in DHeC BA meetings
Use higher level of experience and the grasp of the "big picture" to handle more complex tasks
Recommends decisions / solutions to team and Business Analyst Manager to present to DHeC
Participates in vendor and user conferences as directed
Participate in developing and managing project plans for new applications and/or major upgrades/enhancements
Plan and conduct user acceptance testing of complex functionality, upgrades and fixes
Assist in the guidance/training of Associate and Business Analysts
Research, coordinate and complete special projects as necessary
Works with other DFCI and DHeC teams to research issues and develop solutions including assessing impacts to other areas
Maintain and promote "best practices" procedures, which follow the business unit's framework, that guide how applications are supported, configured, upgraded, tested and used
Provide backup support as necessary for key business operational responsibilities
Manages implementation of decisions / solutions with team
Adheres to Institute change management procedures and policies
Support Credentialed Training activities as needed
Other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primary remote with potential onsite work as needed
A lot of computer work which requires focus and concentration
May require travel for training or locally to meetings or satellite locations
Participate in on-call coverage as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Business, IT, or Healthcare preferred or minimum of 5 years of related work experience
Minimum of 5 years related experience, including revenue cycle experience with healthcare finance systems or clinical systems
Expert knowledge of Epic Reporting Workbench
Strong working knowledge of PC applications, e.g. Microsoft Excel, Office, PowerPoint, Visio, etc
Experience with business intelligence solution such as Tableau is preferred
Solid understanding of workflows relevant to the business team being supported
Must have experience in developing and integrating business processes
Active Epic certification(s) desired or must obtain Epic Certification as outlined by program requirements.
