Job Description:

Identify, assess, and make recommendations that will manage and mitigate the organizations operational risks. Provides strategic direction and leadership for Cypress Environmental Management, LLC and its affiliate companies' initiatives for Environmental Health and Safety. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned) :

  • Identifies potential organizational risks by analyzing data, observing processes, and talking to staff.
  • Drafts and delivers reports and presentations outlining findings, identifying and explaining potential risks, and recommending solutions.
  • Recommends and implements risk management solutions such as insurance, safety and security policies, business continuity plans, or recovery measures.
  • Selects or develops and implements appropriate risk assessment models or methodologies.
  • Develops and implements contingency plans to manage business interruptions, volatile market events, and other emergencies.
  • Maintains knowledge of existing and developing laws and regulations related to the organizations industry; assesses and explains how new requirements may affect the organization in terms of risk exposure.
  • Establish and oversee implementation and maintenance of all environmental, health, safety and industrial/occupational hygiene policies, programs and systems, promoting state-of-the-art safe and healthful work practices for the protection of personnel, physical assets and operations and work directly with insurance broker to predict changes based on historical and current active workers compensation claims..
  • Manage workers compensation process for company. Track, predict and manage experience modifier rating.
  • Establish functional priorities and goals and identify performance improvement targets and metrics ensuring talent and capabilities in place to effectively deliver on all commitments and performance targets.
  • Stay current with current industry standards, new trends, technologies and technical developments and all applicable regulations.
  • Manage team of safety professionals across multiple regions/locations.
  • Serve as company representation for all client safety issues and opportunities, including sales meetings, job kickoffs, safety meetings, incident reviews, etc.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain excellent relationships with customer EHS management and decision-makers.
  • Manage DOT requirements/regulations, Motor Vehicle safety requirements, and monitor fleet reporting to escalate issues by division by employee.
  • Oversee handling and reporting of all safety related incidents (near misses, good catches, lost time incidents, etc.) along with weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of safety metrics by division.
  • Oversee and maintain compliance database records in systems such as ISNetworld and Veriforce.
  • Requires a moderate level of technical ability and familiarity with Safety centric reporting. This includes partnering with the governing authorities and Cypress Environmental Information Technology personnel in navigating each respective system where pertinent information is stored and the ability to produce the information in the format that is required.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :

    • Bachelors or advanced degree in Business, Safety/Environmental or related discipline.
    • Demonstrated leadership is a must; ideally 5+ years leading teams/departments responsible for EHS.
    • Minimum 12 years of experience in Risk Management and EHS, including experience with pipeline/oilfield related fields and preferably with a company that provides services to energy companies.
    • Experience in managing compliance databases such as ISNetworld and Veriforce
    • Must have strong knowledge of local, state and federal EHS regulations and guidance.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage technically and operationally complex programs and to balance the strategic needs of the program with tactical day-to-day activities.
    • Project a passionate, proactive, and innovative leadership style with a track record of driving preventative EHS measures.
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks by prioritization and execution.
    • Proficiency with office computer equipment and software, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and various financial reporting packages.
    • Excellent, proven interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
    • Experience developing, implementing and/or managing an Environmental, Social and Governance program preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to share skills and knowledge with others.
