SUMMARY

TheSenior MechanicalConsulting Engineeris responsible forsolvingcomplex reliability challengesinboard-level electronic circuitsand assemblies from a mechanical engineering perspective.The role is the primary technical and program management contact for customers and expert technical resource in a key service area with capabilities to work as a team lead and individual technical contributor.

Candidate will join a dynamic, fast paced mechanical engineering team that is involved in solving reliability challenges forAnsys customers inevery market vertical (consumer, industrial, transportation, medical, military, telecom, oil exploration).Candidate will havean opportunity to work on a range of projects and technologies with great breadth and relevance to the latestelectronicstechnology challenges.

RESPONSIBILTIES



  • Responsible for solving complex reliability challenges in board-level electronic circuits and assemblies from a mechanical engineering perspective.




  • Scopescost, schedule, and technical objectives & leadstechnicalsolutionsfor complex, application-focused engagements for strategic & enterprise customers.Servesas the project managerandexperttechnical resourceforcustomers onelectronics-reliability focusedprojects.In this role, theSeniorMechanicalEngineer is expected toleadand motivate technical teams, contributeindividuallyto the solution of technical problems, and provide concise written and verbal technical updates and reportsto customers.





  • Appliessimulation technologies toIdentifypotentialreliabilityrisks inthe mechanical design and construction ofelectronic components (e.g.,semiconductor packaging), electronicassemblies(e.g.,circuit card assemblies), and electronicsenclosures(housings, cabling, etc.), exposed totemperature cycling, vibration, and mechanical shockloads.




  • Leadscustomer projects related to simulation, mechanical property characterization, electronic failure analysis, and accelerated life testing; to includetestplanning, testing, and data analysis.




  • Grows industry-specific knowledge and expertise and supportssales and marketing effortsthrough active engagementin thought leadership activities(e.g.,industry conference presentations, blogs,webinarsand internal seminars)andbuildingstrong ties to electronics industry groupsfocusing onmodern electronics technologies.




  • Serves as the technical lead and project manager for complex projects requiring application ofAnsysproducts and engineering services to meet complex customerobjectives




  • Internal network growing across regions and functions, impacting revenue for large territory, strategic & enterpriseaccounts



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • BSinMechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Electronic Systems, or related field




  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a role in direct support of external customers atAnsysor a similar organization




  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the tools and techniques critical for performing the services required of the position(i.e.Finite Element Analysis theory and tools, including ANSYS Mechanical, and failure analysis of electronics)





  • Strong understanding ofthe principles that impact thereliability of electronic components and assemblies, related failure mechanisms,common failure modesand product reliabilityissues




  • Demonstrated problem solvingskills




  • Ability to work independently, as well as with others in a diverse teamenvironment




  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and to communicate effectively withcustomers




  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • MSinMechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Electronic Systems, or related field




  • Excellent team management skills




  • Passion for mentoring and teaching




  • Experience leading or managing multidisciplinary, geographically diverseteams





  • Experience in all phases of the service delivery lifecycle, including customer requirements definition, pricing, technical planning, scheduling, project execution and control, technical execution, final delivery, andfollow-up




  • Familiarity with ANSYS tools (e.g.,Sherlock,Icepak, Minerva, etc.)




  • Knowledge of industry standards relevant to electronics and electronics reliability such as JEDEC, MIL-STD 883, and IPC
