The Opportunity:

This is an open position within the Western Region for our Multiemployer and Public Sector Health Practice. The individual will perform as the region’s primary technical resource on both retiree health valuations and related consulting activities. The role offers significant visibility, working closely with health and retirement consulting staff and external clients on a wide range of complex and challenging issues.

The Role:

Specific responsibilities include but may not be limited to: analyzing and developing health costs and trends, pricing plan design changes, conducting experience studies and actuarial valuations of multiemployer and public sector sponsored health and welfare plans. The Retiree Health Actuary conducts final reviews of both liability and claims aspects of the actuarial valuation, and will have signing authority for valuation reports.

The Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science or related quantitative discipline; be an Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the Academy of Actuaries; possess retiree health actuarial (ie., GASB 74/75 and/or FASB ASC 965) experience within a benefits consulting and/or insurance company environment to include expertise in claims (mandatory) and liability (highly desirable) aspects. Also required are strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, requisite computer skills, excellent communication (oral/written) skills with ability to interact effectively with a diverse audience, ability to work independently and in a team environment.
