Job Description:

Department Description: The MICU/ SICU is a combined medical/ surgical intensive care unit caring for general medical and surgical patients requiring critical care intervention and monitoring. The team also cares for specialty populations including hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant patients, OB/GYN patients and post-operative patients requiring ICU level of care.

Job Summary: Collaborates with a nursing team to provide quality patient care.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Collaborates with a registered nurse on developing a patient's care plan.


2. Develops and maintains competencies as delegated by a registered nurse, including sterile dressing changes.


3. Maintains the safety of patients who have been identified at risk for preventable injury by the implementation of nursing safety interventions or the use of protective devices/equipment under the supervision of the registered nurse.


4. Reports all patient activity to the registered nurse in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications:

1. High School diploma or GED required.


2. 0-1 years related work experience required.


3. Patient care experience required through any of the following areas:
   CNA (or LNA), MA, ED Tech, EMT, PCT certificate or currently enrolled nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation.
   Completion of BIDMC in-house training program. Allied Health, Pre-Med, and Physician Assistant program candidates. Home Health Aide.


4. Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
