The Driver is responsible for transporting patients throughout the local area as defined through a mileage radius from the operations center. The Driver will exhibit an in-depth of navigating the local area to utilize the safest and most efficient routes possible while transporting patients. As this role will have daily interaction with patients, the Driver is expected to exhibit excellent customer service and communication skills. The Driver must comply with the expectations of our contracts and all Federal, State, and Local regulatory standards for driving and vehicle safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Transport/Drive patients to and from medical facilities and/or home in a timely manner.
Utilize maps to locate hospitals, medical facilities, and patient home addresses.
Complete Trip Sheet on a daily basis fully recording each transport and entering of Trip Sheet data into computer systems.
Ensure ambulatory/wheelchair van is maintained and is in good working order; keep unit clean.
Responsible for completing mechanical checklist for vehicle at the start of each shift.
Report mechanical problems to Fleet Manager.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Adherence to and compliance with information systems security is everyone's responsibility. It is the responsibility of every computer user to: Know and follow Information Systems security policies and procedures.
Attend Information Systems security training, when offered.
Report information systems security problems.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High school diploma or GED.
Skills and Experience
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Minimum of six months of prior work experience.
Valid ME Driver's License.
Driving record in compliance with ModivCare Driver Qualification Standards.
Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The majority of the employee's work time is spent in a vehicle transporting patients within the local area. Less than 10% of the employee's work time will be spent in an office environment.
